B.C. MPs meeting with members from Pacific NorthWest Economic Region @PNWER, including Sen. Mike Cuffe from Montana, to discuss common issues facing trade and softwood lumber.
It has been a busy few days in Ottawa alongside my @PNWER colleagues, meeting with many elected officials and ministry staff, and the opportunity to meet with American ambassador Peter Hoekstra to discuss the importance of trade between our nations and the need to renew the USMCA trade agreement. These conversations matter because trade directly impacts jobs, businesses, and families across our nation and Saskatchewan. I will continue advocating for Saskatchewan’s interests and support economic stability.

This week started with administration officials refusing to acknowledge that Russia started the war in Ukraine. It ends with a tense, shocking conversation in the Oval Office and whispers from the White House that they may try to end all U.S. support for Ukraine. I know foreign policy is not for the faint of heart, but right now, I am sick to my stomach as the administration appears to be walking away from our allies and embracing Putin, a threat to democracy and U.S. values around the world.
Recently, 16 former PNWER presidents convened to reaffirm the U.S.-Canada relationship and highlight the importance of PNWER’s longstanding model for cross-border collaboration. Read the statement below.

I’ve had great discussions with Washington State lawmakers and businesses in Seattle and Olympia this week. Nobody wants tariffs. Off to Idaho. Stay tuned. 1/
Just got back from Idaho. Many in this Republican state are concerned about tariffs. Met with Governor, Lieutenant Governor, the local Chamber, staff from a US Senator's office and others. We discussed our great trade relationship, but if tariffs are imposed we will retaliate.
