@Ryie422@BoyForida They aren't written a check. They can only spend the money on approved curriculum, supplies, activities and such. You either purchase supplies & get reimbursed or buy from the state marketplace.
@lornabradley1@BoyForida We were 39th in the nation when I graduated in 1985. Florida schools improved dramatically since the department of education set minimum standards, making it to 9th overall. Republicans, however, have been out to destroy the public school system since Jeb Bush.
@MaxwellFrostFL His multiple personalities, namely John Baron & David Dennison. When he talks about himself in the 3rd person, it's one of his other personalities.
@WalshFreedom I guess y'all forget that tRump was having rallies then too. June of 2020, tRump had a rally, 22 rallies before the election. The same administration that locked down the country, closed schools & churches, was having rallies.
@billybinion tRump had rallies from June 2020 to September 2020, why would that be allowed but not protests? Must have been one of those "right causes" you're talking about, hypocrite.
@WalshFreedom I can point to the same hypocrisy, our governor, DeathSantis, told everyone to go back to work, business as usual in late 2020. His offices remained closed to the public for 411 days, didn't open until late 2021. He went to tRump rallies, yet u had to be tested to meet w him.
@Cathy2NotToday Yep. I did Ron's saving calculator, I'll save $1220. Oddly that doesn't zero out my taxes, because of those non ad-valorem taxes that his proposal DOESN'T INCLUDE. non ad-valorem taxes aren't subject to the homestead exemption, don't pay them, u still lose your house.
@LakesFirearmsTr@TampaBayAndrew@GovRonDeSantis Non ad-valorem taxes aren't included. This thing is telling me I'll save $1220, my taxes were $2100, so something obviously isn't included.
@coffee_pot@GovRonDeSantis I've been asking this for days. What will stop municipalities from just making everything non ad-valorem taxes, fees? I'm seeing this as a way for the gov to gut the homestead exemption because they aren't subject to the exemption, but counties can still apply liens & foreclose.
@GovRonDeSantis What about non ad-valorem taxes? The homestead exemption doesn't limit those. What will stop municipalities from adding more non ad-valorem taxes to pay for services?
@RetiredAFRN@LondonRiverSFW Technically, this bill guts the homestead exemption. It only applies to ad-valorem taxes. Non ad-valorem taxes aren't subject to the exemption, they can increase greater than 3%, they have lien & foreclosure powers. U think counties aren't going to add non ad-valorem taxes?LOL
@JeffreyBrandes So am I alone in thinking that this bill guts the homestead exemption? It only applies to AD-VALOREM TAXES & non school taxes. Nothing stops municipalities from adding non ad-valorem taxes. Non ad-valorem taxes have no caps & have lien & foreclosure powers.
@realChipRogers@FloridaPolicy The proposal doesn't eliminate taxes for schools & it doesn't eliminate non ad-valorem taxes either. That leaves me with 2/3 of my current taxes, hardly call that "no property taxes" & isn't enough to take a trip on. Fyi, non ad-valorem taxes still have lein & foreclosure powers.
@marceelias Most of the elderly Republicans in FL do mail in voting. And no, they aren't sick or incapacitated in any way, they just don't want to stand in line. Can't wait for tRump to make their lives difficult.
@DzGrammas2008@marceelias So if I have to work from 7am to 7pm on that day, when do I get to vote? Lines will be long, will my patients be ok on their own for 2, maybe 3 hours when the hospital lets all the staff go to vote? Fucking moron.
@cougarlover32@florida_grand Non ad-valorem taxes are the fees we are talking about, not user fees. They aren't subject to the homestead exemption, they can increase > ad-valorem taxes, they have lien and foreclosure powers. Seems no one has ever read their property tax bill in FL.
@florida_grand The fees are called non ad-valorem taxes. Non ad-valorem taxes are not subject to the homestead exemption, they can increase > than ad-valorem taxes, they have lien and foreclose powers. Increasing the exemption will have 0 affect on these mandatory fees.
