Sorry, but I’ve got to have a small rant here, and I know it's the first race weekend.
Yes, we’re at one of the worst tracks for energy harvesting and recharging, but seeing cars slow down massively halfway down a straight just isn’t F1.
I don’t really have a problem with the chassis rules or the aero (if you look past the active aero). The problem is clearly the PU regs.
A 50/50 or 53/47 split was always going to be difficult once they removed the MGU-H. These cars are energy-starved. They could go much quicker through T9-10, but the PU just doesn’t allow it.
The cars are lighter, more nimble, and generally look nicer to drive than the stiff, low-to-the-ground ground-effect cars from recent seasons. With a different engine split — something like 65/35 or 70/30 — they could’ve been really nice.
🔴 Lewis Hamilton did not use the simulator ahead of the Monaco GP.
He also heaped praise on his race engineer Carlo Santi:
- "I feel that Carlo is very similar to Bono. For me, he is a sort of “OG” (Original Gangster, ed.), one of those veterans of the old guard who has seen a lot, has enormous experience and is always extremely calm."

@simscircuit@PelusoF1 He said he would … to study and co-relate with Canadian GP outcome. Not necessarily to prepare for Monaco. Let’s see what Lewis says.

McLaren is expected to feature a similar concept to Red Bull/Mercedes. While the Ferrari that has appeared does not feature any exploitation in this area, so far.

@Hazzertate@wearetherace For Mercedes yes, and I don't expect to see Red Bull run that unless they've figured a way to use that with their new wing that rotates.
No SM zones this weekend. No need for wing actuators.
Mercedes has replaced the rear wing actuator with an array of little wings. Honestly, I had no idea the rules left room for something like this. I'm so intrigued. Kudos.
🔴 The Ferrari Barcelona update!
Ferrari will bring its second aero upgrade package to Barcelona, featuring an evolved front wing based on the double outer profile concept.
The team is hoping for a gain of around two tenths on track.
