Welfare, Teamwork and Service

Deputy Inspector General, Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat, visited Mlolongo Police Station to inspect ongoing development projects and check on the welfare of officers.

He urged officers to work as a team, stay firm in the fight against crime and uphold professionalism in serving and protecting wananchi.

The DIG stressed that officer welfare and a conducive working environment are key to effective service delivery.

He was accompanied by Eastern Regional Police Commander Stephen Chebet, AIG; Machakos County Police Commander Monica Kimani, CP; Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer Janet Wasige, SSP; among other senior officers.

Following a fire that swept through officer quarters at the EPZ Athi River Police Post on the evening of Saturday, August 29, 2026, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Eliud Lagat, visited the scene today to see the damage firsthand and stand in support of the affected officers.

​To help them get back on their feet, DIG Lagat handed over immediate relief supplies, including replacement uniforms, food items, and basic household essentials.

​He reassured the team of full and ongoing support including counseling services noting that caring for the personal well-being of officers remains a true priority for police leadership.

At the 149th Pass-Out Parade at National Police College, Kiganjo, Interior CS Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen spoke on the improved training curriculum and the demands of modern policing, while IG Mr. Douglas Kanja challenged the new officers to uphold professionalism and integrity. Assuring the Commander-in-Chief of their readiness, DIG Kenya Police Service Mr. Eliud Lagat said, “Your Excellency, the officers before you are ready to serve Kenya.”

Rebuilding Utumishi Girls Academy

Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr Eliud Lagat, today was the Chief Guest at a fundraising event at Utumishi Girls Academy to support the reconstruction of sections of the school affected by the recent fire tragedy.

The event brought together senior police officers, area MP Hon. Martha Wangari and DIG Emeritus Edward Mbugua, the founder of the academy, among other guests.

The fundraiser seeks to restore the school and support the girls as they continue with their education.
