Setting aside half the misinformation in this post, the Amish are also clearly a community that refuses to assimilate to American society.
And yet no one on the right seems to care. Curious.
@NyinaWaJambo81@William_42318 Liturgy, from Greek, is public work - a street or a fountain. It has, should have, non-excludable public benefit. I see, among some, doctrinal adherence but a lack of understanding that we do this for others. The sacraments aren't magic. We must cooperate in charity.
@NyinaWaJambo81@William_42318 Accommodation of myriad cultures=genius of the Church. I grew up w/ 1970s 'guitar' Mass. I don't prefer it, was sort of driven by the zeitgeist. That said, there is danger among RadTrads to make an idol of the incidentals (the music), missing the essence and purpose of liturgy
@jaynordlinger Hard for me to see how a genuine conservative can not oppose Trump/MAGA.
In football, even aggressive coaches sometimes run 'the punt.' They use a down to give the ball to the other team. I couldn't vote for this mess.
@JendersII Our bishops are the successors to the Apostles. While I'm sure random buffoons opined on matters and undermined Peter, James, & John, it is unwise to do so.
You undermine the Church and sow division.
@William_42318@NyinaWaJambo81 I understand, and share, your vibe. It's nothing compared to being invited to take part in the re-presentation of Christ's sacrifice.
And, I see FAR less of this over the decades than in 1970s/80s.
@mattmurphyshow Neither party champions trade & free markets. Countries are 'ripping us off?' How profoundly stupid, yet many willing to embrace it.
Tapper: "I just looked at the State Department's website. They have a Level 4 'Do Not Travel' advisory for Haiti…That doesn't sound safe to me."
Mullin: "That advisory is to American citizens traveling to Haiti, not Haitians going back home."
Tapper: "It doesn't sound safe."
@JonahDispatch No. That's answer to your question. Or perhaps he's worked out an arrangement w/ God to repent later (At 41, that is still in that range of immaturity). Now, I'll read what @thedispatch says. Tis always good.
