I avoid shaming people on social media, as I don't want to contribute to making this space even more toxic. But I think there is a need to address this phenomenon of Western leftists who ignore and even shame voices from inside Iran and other countries suffering the blight of Iran's militias wishing for foreign intervention to free themselves of these oppressive forces.
Their support for foreign intervention is a result of the failure of all other means to topple these regimes or uproot these militias: protesting, voting against them or negotiating with them. Support for foreign intervention is a sign of desperation and the insistence of the Iranian regime and its militias to impose itself by force on the populations of these countries.
After the 12 Day War, Iranians inside the country mostly united in their rage against foreign intervention. Then they came out to protest peacefully against the regime and were slaughtered in the thousands. Over 50,000 Iranians have been arrested, subjected to horrific torture, including widespread use of rape, and some have already been executed after sham trials.
Anyone who hasn't experienced these horrors, who hasn't struggled for freedom knowing she/he may be killed at any moment, is privileged and lucky. From this position of privilege, they are not entitled to criticize Iranians, Iraqis, Lebanese, Syrians, Yemenis, who are welcoming foreign intervention against this vile regime.
Moreso, leftists/liberals who consider themselves to be humanists, should take the desires of locals and their suffering into account when determining their position regarding war on the Iranian regime.
There are legitimate reasons to oppose the war, and it is not guaranteed to bring down the Iranian regime, but looking at everything through a U.S.-centric lens is anti-humanist and anti-liberal. Is slaughtering your own people legal? Is it legal to establish sectarian militias that besieged and starved towns in Syria, ethnically cleansed swaths of Syria and Iraq, or slaughtered unarmed protesters in Iraq? Is it legal to execute mass-casualty attacks against civilians across the world and assassinate peaceful dissidents, as the IRGC has done?

My name is Emily Damari. I was held hostage in Gaza for over 500 days.

On the morning of October 7, I was at home in my small studio apartment in Kibbutz Kfar Aza when Hamas terrorists burst in, shot me and dragged me across the border into Gaza. I was one of 251 men, women, children, and elderly people kidnapped that day from their beds, their homes, and a music festival.

For almost 500 days I lived in terror. I was starved, abused, and treated like I was less than human. I watched friends suffer. I watched hope dim. And even now, after returning home, I carry that darkness with me - because my best friends, Gali and Ziv Berman are still being held in the Hamas terror tunnels.

So imagine my shock and pain when I saw that you awarded a Pulitzer Prize to Mosab Abu Toha.

This is a man who, in January, questioned the very fact of my captivity. He posted about me on Facebook and asked, “How on earth is this girl called a hostage?” He has denied the murder of the Bibas family. He has questioned whether Agam Berger was truly a hostage. These are not word games - they are outright denials of documented atrocities.

You claim to honor journalism that upholds truth, democracy, and human dignity. And yet you have chosen to elevate a voice that denies truth, erases victims, and desecrates the memory of the murdered.

Do you not see what this means? Mosab Abu Toha is not a courageous writer. He is the modern-day equivalent of a Holocaust denier. And by honoring him, you have joined him in the shadows of denial.

This is not a question of politics. This is a question of humanity. And today, you have failed it.

אז אתמול הימין גילה שיש מעצר מנהלי בישראל.

תראו, אופן הביטוי של ראש האגף הלא-ערבי (כן, זה השם) בשב"כ הוא מכוער וחד משמעית לא ראוי כשמדובר באזרחי ישראל. חד וחלק. באשר לדבריו על מעצר ללא ראיות, כאן עולה תמיהה: האם רק אתמול שמעתם על מעצר מנהלי?

על פי החוק בישראל שר הביטחון רשאי להורות על מעצרו של אזרח ישראלי למשך ששה חודשים, אם היה לו "יסוד סביר להניח שטעמי בטחון המדינה או בטחון הציבור" מחייבים זאת. זהו. תוך 48 שעות צריך להביא את האזרח לפני שופט, אבל אין צורך במשפט על מנת להשאירו במעצר, ומספיק שהשב"כ מסביר שעל פי מקורותיו מדובר בסיכון לביטחון המדינה.

לא ידעתם? איפה חשבתם שאתם חיים? בישראל מונהג מצב חירום פורמלי מאז הקמתה, והוא שמאפשר את השלילה החמורה הזאת של אחת הזכויות העתיקות ביותר, הזכות למשפט הוגן.

כתבתי כאן ובמקומו�� אחרים לא מעט פעמים כנגד הכלי הדרקוני הזה, שפוגע באופן חריף במסגרת הליברלית של המדינה ובזכויות כולנו. הגם שאני מבין שישראל ��כן במצב ביטחוני רגיש, עלינו לשאוף כמה שיותר מהר לבטל את האפשרות של השב"כ לכלוא אנשים במעצר מנהלי.

לבסוף, מספר היהודים שנעצרים במעצר מנהלי בכל שנה הוא בודדים, ואילו ממש ברגעים אלה יושבים אלפי(!) פלסטינים שנעצרו ללא משפט. כל הנאבקים רק כנגד מעצר יהודים ולא כנגד מעצרו של כל אדם ללא משפט נאבקים לא למען הדמוקרטיה או זכויות האדם אלא למען זכויות יתר ליהודים ולמען היתר לפורעים ביו"ש לערוך פוגרומים כרצונם.

ושמא כל מטרתם היא לתקוף את השב"כ על רגע חקירתו בלשכת רה"מ ולהמשיך לפרק את המדינה רק כדי לחלץ ראש ממשלה מושחת וכושל? לא יכול להיות, נכון?
