🔥The Farm Bill that includes my 🥩 PRIME Act pilot just passed the House!
This is a game changer for farmers — and provides access to locally raised beef, pork, and lamb for consumers!
We also stripped the immunity/state labeling ban for pesticides from the Farm Bill. MAHA!
Our food system is broken. Farmer @JoelSalatin has an idea for how President Trump can fix it: "We need a food emancipation proclamation... We need to take the shackles off of a farmer so that the farmer can sell to his neighbor."
We might have started the day with snow, but with warm temperatures coming our way, we are getting a jump start on spreading our deep bedding that the pigs have already turned into compost for us! Check out those compost stripes! #polyface#pigerator#buildingsoil#compost
Check out our very own Joel Salatin and our neighbor Michael Godfrey!

It’s “checkouts” week on the farm! Hannah has posted Joel’s new blog post about what that means...
“Hi,
Today, I wanted to share a quick story. As I was reading Joel’s new blog post, I had this story floating in my mind...
One December day, a girl walked down the driveway towards a farmhouse, just as the fog lifted, dew clinging to the pasture grass on either side of the road, and the air humming as the earth was waking up.
Her hands were unsure but ready with the new gloves she’d brought from home. Her heart pounded.
Selected for a two-day checkout, she knew she would get to join in work that felt holy—feeding, hauling, listening, learning.
Again and again over the two days, she pinched her arm, half-expecting to wake up. Could this experience be real? People had told her this life was unrealistic, impossible, irresponsible.
Yet here she was, sweat-soaked and smiling (even in winter - which is a lot coming from a Mississippi girl), remembering, in her dream setting, that exhaustion could feel like joy.
Muscles ached, time blurred, and every chore stitched her closer to something true. Those 2 days were relentless and grounding, demanding everything she had—and giving more back.
I was that girl. Those checkout days marked something beautiful in my life as I realized I could follow my passions for farming. Now, over a decade later, I get to send you this email today telling you about Joel’s new blog post, revealing a little behind-the-scenes peek at what we call “checkouts”.
