Hey @junonewscom. Please show us the quote that you attribute to us, where we purportedly says #SKS variants are prohibited? ("A prominent gun control lobby was hit with an X fact-check Wednesday after falsely claiming SKS variants are 'prohibited' firearms.") In our Op-ed, we quote the Expert Advisory Panel on Firearms that says legal guns like SKS variants share same characteristics as prohibited firearms - the OPPOSITE of saying SKS variants are prohibited (they SHOULD be). Sad that you publish a report that actually makes a false claim in response to a #GunTroll generated @CommunityNotes that doesn't even negate the essence of what we wrote (the note is about the colloquial use of the term "loophole"). Please correct or delete your article.

A known gap in Canada’s gun laws is costing lives. The #SKS loophole - for a semi-automatic firearm originally designed for military use - is no longer defensible. The rifle has been used in multiple high-profile incidents involving civilians and police, including the 2018 Fredericton shooting that killed two police officers and two civilians. A federal expert advisory panel has also concluded that modern SKS variants share key characteristics with firearms that are already prohibited. The SKS was the most common model seized by the Edmonton Police Service over a two-year period. https://t.co/G6ztC8Qvej via @mtlgazette
Police officers from across Canada assembled in Montréal, Québec, for a memorial procession and service honoring Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) Constable Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, who was killed during a violent daytime shooting in the Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood. Various police services, including London Police Service, Niagara Regional Police, and Brantford Police Service, stood in solidarity with his family, colleagues, and the SPVM community.

Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Montreal on Tuesday as a procession honouring slain police officer Mohamed Lamine Benredouane moved slowly toward the Bell Centre.
The 34-year-old SPVM constable was killed on June 22 while responding to reports of an armed man in Côte-des-Neiges.
Behind a wreath of white flowers, the family of Benredouane led the march through the city’s core. Officers stood at attention as the march passed, some raising salutes, others wiping away tears.
