Award-winning Nigerian author, Chief Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has brøken her silence for the first time following the de@th of her 21-month-old son, Kanu Nnamdi, earlier this year.

Recall, Chimamanda and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, løst one of their twin sons on January 7, 2026, at Euracare Hospital in Lagos state.

According to the family, Kanu di€d while receiving medical treatment at the hospital. They have raised concerns about the care he received and believe there may have been medical negligence.

The matter is currently being investigated by relevant authorities and is also before a coroner’s court. Reports indicate that some medical personnel involved have been placed under temporary disciplinary measures pending the outcome of the investigations.

In her statement, Chimamanda expressed the deep pain and grief her family has endured since Kanu’s de@th. She also accused the hospital of attempting to delay or interfere with the coroner’s inquest.

She renewed her call for justice and accountability, insisting that the circumstances surrounding her son’s de@th should be thoroughly investigated.

The exact cause and circumstances of Kanu’s de@th are yet to be officially determined, as investigations and legal proceedings are still ongoing.
