You're a man,
Don't forget, you can:
- Start at 30
- Fail at 35
- Start the wrong business
- Find your lane
- find the right path
- Start again at 40
And still, succeed.
Never give up on yourself, son.
ILLINOIS COMMUNITY DEMANDS ANSWERS AFTER BODYCAM VIDEO RELEASE
The Macomb Police Department has released body camera footage detailing the tragic March 16, 2024, officer-involved shooting that claimed the lives of 57-year-old Anthony T. George and 4-year-old Terrell Miller.
Officers were dispatched to a residential apartment complex following reports of a violent domestic dispute. Upon arriving, police encountered a woman who had sustained multiple stab wounds. Police bodycam footage shows officers confronting George, who was armed with two knives. George briefly retreated out of sight before re-emerging while holding the 4-year-old child as a human shield with a knife to his throat.
An officer fired a single shot, killing both George and the toddler. A special prosecutor from the Illinois State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor’s office subsequently ruled the use of force legally justified, confirming no criminal charges would be filed against the officers involved.
The family has launched a federal civil rights lawsuit against the department. While a federal judge recently dismissed four out of five counts on statute-of-limitations grounds, a single remaining Fourteenth Amendment claim continues to move forward against the officer who fired the shot.
Out of respect for the family, I have decided to cut out the moment the shots rang out.
The Ballad of the Silver State Cowboy
In Nevada so wide, where the sagebrush grows tall,
Lived a cowboy in blue who would answer the call.
With forms in his satchel and boots on his feet,
He hunted for voters on each dusty street!
From Reno to Sparks, then to Carson by noon,
Through Fernley and Fallon he hummed a small tune.
Past Lovelock, Winnemucca, then eastward he’d roam,
Where the highways grow lonely but the towns feel like home.
He’d roll into Elko! He’d wander to Wells!
Through Battle Mountain dust where the sagebrush wind swells.
To Ely and Eureka on Highway Fifty so long,
With his hat sitting tilted and his grin extra strong.
Through Tonopah, Goldfield, then Beatty he’d ride,
With the Silver State stretching so golden and wide.
Then Pahrump to Vegas, where the neon burns bright,
To Henderson, Mesquite, and Laughlin at night!
He’d set up his table wherever he could.
At rodeos and fairs and events in the “hood.”
“Are you registered YET?” he’d ask with a grin.
“Don’t sit in a box! Don’t hide with a fox! Please come in!”
He worked for Turning Point Action, you see.
Nevada’s own clipboard and cowboy he will be.
A Republican rider with politics known,
Helping good folks get counted wherever he’d roam.
And sometimes some liberals would huff as he passed,
With a wag of the finger and a look that would last.
They’d grumble and glare, they’d scoff and they’d fuss…
But the cowboy just tipped his old hat and said “it’s no fuss.”
For Nevada is sprawling, its highways run far,
Past mountains and deserts beneath every star.
So onward he traveled through sunshine and bad weather,
With boots and with forms and that hat packed together.
From the biggest bright city to one stoplight towns,
Through valleys and mountains, through ups and through downs,
The Silver State cowboy kept riding his route,
Signing up voters.
He would NOT bow out!

New to Nevada and already locked in.
Met this lady at the Virginia City Camel Races. She just moved here and we got her registered to vote.
Welcome to the Silver State.
