1. Been heads down building for the last 4 years and barely posting.
Time to change that.
My name is Derek Taing. I’m the founder of FPS Lounge.
Before this, I was a full time professional gamer and content creator. I’ve lived this world from the inside.
This is my first real thread.
2. When I was competing, nobody handed me a roadmap.
- No real coaching system.
- No clear development path.
- No structure that showed how to go from good to great to pro to sustainable.
I had to figure it out on my own.
A big part of why I’m building FPS Lounge is because I know how broken that journey is firsthand.
3. Look at almost every other traditional competitive sport.
There’s a pathway.
- Local club.
- School program.
- College.
- Pro team.
- Sponsors.
- A system.
Gaming has billions of players, but for most people the closest thing to a development path is just watching YouTube or engaging on Twitch and hoping they figure it out playing with players that actually just average them down.
That gap is real.
4. And that gap is exactly what we’re trying to close.
- Not just with content.
- Not just with coaching.
- Not just with hype.
With real infrastructure around the player journey.
- Progression.
- Support.
- Access.
- Opportunity.
Things this industry has needed for a long time.
5. A lot of esports organizations treated players like a cost to manage.
That model was broken.
The better model is helping talent turn their skill, knowledge, and audience into real value.
The player should not just be an expense.
They should be able to become an asset to themselves.
That’s a huge part of how I think about this company.
6. Here’s something people outside the space do not always understand.
Pro players are trying to do the impossible.
- Compete at the highest level.
- Stay sharp.
- Stream.
- Post content.
- Build a brand.
- Monetize.
- Stay relevant.
I know because I lived that tension myself.
Most people cannot do all of that alone.
7. That’s why we work with top players.
Not just to slap a logo on them.
Not just to farm content.
But to help them build something that lasts while they compete.
Because careers in gaming move fast.
And if the infrastructure around the player is weak, a lot of talent gets wasted.
8. We came out loud recently and I heard the feedback.
We're on your radar though, it worked - 12M impressions in last 30 days across socials.
- Some of the content felt too salesy.
- Some of it felt too AI.
- Some of it did not fully reflect the mission.
That’s on me.
We moved fast.
Now we’ll be more intentional.
Less noise.
More substance.
More proof.
9. I've also stayed quiet for a long time because I wanted to build something real before I talked too much about it. What we have is real. We're not an "Org". We're truly the First Global Gaming Institution.
I never wanted this to be all branding and no backbone.
Now that the foundation and infrastructure is there, I’m going to start sharing more of the vision, the wins, the lessons, and the reason this matters so much to me.
10. If you’re a gamer or who ever felt like you had what it took, but no clear path forward, this is for you. If you're in the industry and you were tired of the instability across gaming & esports. Watch.
That’s who I care about.
That’s who FPS Lounge is for.
I’m here now.
And I’m just getting started.
