The Jimi Hendrix Experience returned to Olympic Studios on May 5, 1967 to further their work on "If 6 Was 9." This time, the first half was initially titled "Symphony Of Experience" on the tape box. An alternate recording comprised of work from May 4, 5 and June 9 is presented in mono on the "purple box set" THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE originally released in 2000.

✝️ Remembering May 6th 2002 - Songwriter Otis Blackwell died from a heart attack, age 71. Blackwell was born in Brooklyn, New York. He learned to play the piano as a child and grew up listening to both R&B and country music. Among his hits were "All Shook Up", "Return To Sender", "Don't Be Cruel", "Great Balls Of Fire", "Fever" and "Handy Man". Over the years, Blackwell's songs have sold more than 185 million copies.

May 6th 1965 James Brown reworks a song called "I Found You" by Yvonne Fair and comes up with "I Got You (I Feel Good)". It will become the biggest hit of his career, topping the Billboard R&B chart, reaching #3 on the Hot 100, and #29 in the UK. The record would be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013.
