When we started @RwenzoriMarathn in 2022, there was resistance from some circles who hadn’t understood this was good for us all in Kasese and Uganda.

Why do I say for us, we own 2 accommodations in kasese which means we have clear interests in kasese and its surrounding.

When uganda and kasese do well, we too do well and when kasese suffers like it was Elephant plains lodge, Simba safari camp, MV Kazinga suffered.

@RwenzoriMarathn is growing faster than we envisioned and from the announcements tomorrow , you know why for yourselves.

@KabbyangaB walked with us to ministry of works for clearing of roads, he was with us when we were engaging security both in Kampala and kasese etc.

He was like Amos, it’s very hard organizing such events, it’s not easy bringing people from around the world, it takes money and energy many people don’t have.

He saw business for the people of kasese and uganda especially after the first one, super markets run out supplies, Bodas were overwhelmed, accommodations couldn’t have handle the demand.

Bars, restaurants, local markets food prices shot up because of demand, some families left their homes for runners who were willing to pay.

After the first marathon, buy in was obvious because people saw opportunities for themselves , the next year people were better organized but still couldn’t handle the growing demand.

@KabbyangaB said his chicken farm saw a boom , all his eggs were booked out by hotels , and am sure he is preparing for 2026 too.

He went around teaching people about preparation, how to tap into the numbers and room numbers have grown from 500 to over 2000 rooms, Airbnbs , families leave their homes to make money too.

That week some families make enough to pay fees for their children, Bodas pay bigger portion of their loans on the motorcycles.

@KabbyangaB keeps saying this is for us and for us organizers it will be 7yr before we make profits we can pocket, we have to market @RwenzoriMarathn around the world.

Each activations we do outside uganda between usd 10k to 30k goes, marketing isn’t cheap, earning is cheaper. Around ushs 30bn is spent by runners in kasese, Fortportal, Rubirizi , ishaka etc that week from ushs 9bn in 2022.

We have researchers every year carrying out surveys
