@Newsweek You know you sometimes blow/mind with the stuff you post. What you are really saying is he is a racist/those that voted/will vote for him as such are also racist. This is a really well thought out cheap shot based/rumour that you gradually turned into a weapon. Shame on you!
141/21 You might think that the patient’s problem is insignificant and obvious, but remember his or her pain and uncertainty is real for that man, woman or child who a sitting in your chair or lying on your examination table.
YOU DONT HAVE TO BE A DR TO SHOW COMPASSION TODAY.
141/20 The next time you treat an old man/woman, stop and visualise your own father/mother sitting in the chair in front of you. When you want to brush them aside ask yourself, “If this was my own mother/father/brother would I have acted in the same unsympathetic manner?”
141/19 You are often the only barrier between your patient and death. They are not a lump of meat or a computer that you are working on, but a fragile human being/same fears and aspirations than you. They entrust you with their lives and should be treated with respect/dignity.
141/18 I hope that doctors will regain their composure and return to their ancestor’s human touch. The degree on your wall indicates/you qualified to practice medicine, but do not alleviate you to a God-like status. Your patient puts his/her most valuable possession/life/hands.
141/17 You know that your tablets and capsules will never on its own mend a broken heart or repair a person’s soiled self-image, but when taken with your kind words and optimistic faith it becomes a life giving combination. I wish you the best, my friend.
141/16 You are one of a kind my friend and should spend the last years of your life teaching at universities around the world how medicine/compassion blend to become a miracle cure. Compassion comes from the heart, not the head.
141/15 He can be very firm and to the point when he is faced with incompetent nurses/uncivilised patients. Dr Andre Strauss, I salute you
not only for your friendship/companionship/insight but also the/ability you displayed/each patient as if they are part of your family/special.
141/14 You never experience/feeling a distance between him/his
patients. I personally think/his ability to “feel” the patient’s pain/discomfort makes his ability to diagnose so highly accurate. I do not want to create the impression/he is a pushover/attention seeking teddy bear.
141/13 He is without doubt one of the best doctors professionally, but his compassion makes him a very special person. He is never too tired or too pushed for time to share a smile or tell a joke.
IT IS NOT WHAT YOU DO, BUT HOW YOU DO IT!
141/12 I HAVE BEEN SPOILED: The doctor that has been looking after my family’s health for the last twenty-five years is a big man with a warm heart. You can phone him three-o-clock in the morning and he will still take care of your problem in a warm and compassionate manner.
141/11 What bothered me most again was the utter lack of compassion or respect that these healers showed for a woman of eighty-four years. We
can think up a number of excuses for this behaviour, but a smile or a kind word now/then would not have cost them nothing.
141/10 She was sent around for more than seven hours in this hospital and was prodded and probed by junior doctors that obviously have no clue what they were doing. I overheard a number of these white-coated “Doctors.” argue behind a curtain over which side her heart is situated.
141/9 My mother in law became very ill less than two weeks ago and I was forced to go through the same heartless procedure once again. I took her to a state hospital and soon realized that they were more interested in “studying” her than treating her.
141/8 I do not for one moment claim that they are directly or indirectly responsible for his death, but feel that they could have shown much more compassion and understanding for this physically and mentally broken blind man in the deep shadow of his years.
141/7 I am convinced that they would have never treated their own parents or family members in such a cold/impersonal manner. I am not going to labour this example/can report that complications/developed from this accident finally took/life less than two-and-a-half months later.
141/6 No doctor or nurse used a single re-assuring word or showed any compassion for his painful disposition. I am sure that the thought never crossed their mind that this white-haired frightened old man is a father and a person with some degree of dignity.
