The Qatar Financial Centre's starting to get serious with DLT adoption.

Recently they opened the Qatar Digital Asset Lab.

This is 100% backed by the Qatar Central Bank.

Within the Digital Asset Lab partners both R3 Corda & $HBAR are the two DLT infrastructures chosen.

This is quite interesting as it shows they've clearly done their research on DLTs fit for enterprise and government level usage.

R3 has clearly proven to be the preferred private permissioned DLT within the world of FinTech.

On the other hand, Hedera's grown to one of if not the most preferred DLT for public scale industry purposed DLT utilities.

On top of this, Hedera Consensus Service (HCS) actually has a direct plugin to R3's Corda!

There's currently no confirmation on whether this plugin connector will be used, but the use case certainly fits that of institutional finance with digital assets.

Within the Qatar Digital Asset Lab, there are 24 participants that will utilize the infrastructure.

Projects range from DLT custody solutions like Taurus & BladeLabs, tokenization solutions like Evergon on Nexera & even L1s like Polygon.

Selecting R3 Corda & Hedera as foundational partners may seem random, there's some deeper history.

The connections here date back as early as 2023

If we trace back the steps it was obvious all along that Qatar was beginning to get serious with digital assets.

Back in April 2023 Qatar's Financial Centre had partnered with R3 though the description of the collaboration was left quite broad.

But as we can see a year later & this partnership has advanced quite nicely.

On the other hand with Hedera they had seen a collaboration earlier this year to form a $50 Million digital asset venture studio in Qatar.

This also falls inline with Hedera's other venture efforts in Saudi with a similar initiative.

Qatar's decision on R3 & Hedera, both Enterprise DLT leaders in their own ways was precise & calculated.

Day by day, we continue seeing real world institutional & enterprise level adoption of DLT.
