Women's fashion.
Corsets caused organ displacement. This was known in 1793, yet it took 200 years to get rid of the corset.
Whale bone stays caused fainting spells. Smelling salt became a necessity in every woman's purse.
Tight lacing on dresses to make a woman's waist 17" permanently repositioned every organ below the rib cage 😨
When they say that beauty has a price, they're not kidding 😢
Today, we bid farewell to a man whose presence has been a steady light within our University community, Rev. Dr. Gideon Olumide Akanbi, our dearly beloved University Chaplain.
Big Chaps' tenure has been marked by wisdom in counsel, passion in service, and a standard of excellence that has inspired both staff and students alike. Through his prayers, sermons, and counsels, he has strengthened faith, nurtured character, and reminded us daily of the values that define us as a community.
More than a Chaplain, Gideon Akanbi has been a father, a shepherd, a mentor, a voice of calm in uncertain times, and a guiding presence to many who found direction through his ministry.
As your tenure comes to an end today, Big Chaps, we celebrate a season well served and a legacy firmly planted. Though you may be stepping away from this role, the seeds you have sown will continue to flourish within our community for years to come.
May the next chapter of your journey be filled with even greater purpose, grace, and fulfilment, in Jesus' name🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you for serving with honour.
Thank you for leading with conviction.
Thank you for loving us so deeply.
You will always remain a treasured part of our story.
We'll miss you, and always remember you and "Mommy Chaplain" fondly🥰🥰🥰
