My daughter was 17 years old when she was selected for a school trip from July 9 to July 22. It was mandatory for her to be vaccinated, and she was the only one in our household who received the vaccine despite our pleas against it. She got vaccinated on June 7 and June 28, 2022. She left for her trip on July 9, but on July 18, she texted me saying she was sick. We immediately drove from Michigan to New York to meet her at the Niagara Falls border in Toronto. We returned home on July 19, which was also our three-year-old's birthday. We had cake and ice cream, but my daughter only had soup before going to bed.

The next day, July 20, I took her to urgent care. We waited for four hours in the waiting room until she suddenly asked if they had called her name yet, then collapsed and went into cardiac arrest. The medical team managed to revive her, and she was airlifted to Children's Hospital where she was put on an ECMO machine and treated with Remdesivir. Due to poor circulation, her limbs turned black, and there was a risk of amputation, which was complicated by the blood thinners she was on, leading to infections and kidney failure. We had to make the heart-wrenching decision to turn off the life support on August 6, when my daughter passed away.
