As part of the global celebrations marking the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, a set of 12 Special Covers was released by the Department of Posts during a curtain-raiser event held in Kolkata, West Bengal, to commemorate the occasion.

The first albums were formally presented by Shri Ashok Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal Circle, on behalf of the Department of Posts, to Shri Suvendu Adhikari, Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal and Shri Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.

This collaborative initiative of the Department of Posts and the Ministry of Ayush reflects a shared commitment in promoting the ancient wisdom and enduring legacy of Yoga. It highlights Yoga’s vital role in fostering physical well-being, mental balance, and inner harmony, while strengthening cultural connections and inspiring a healthier society across the globe.

The Department of Posts has launched drone-based transmission of mail and parcels between Mandi Post Office and Rehardhar Post Office in Himachal Pradesh.

What once took over 2 hours through difficult terrain now takes just 7 minutes, powered by technology, precision, and a vision for stronger last-mile connectivity.

This initiative marks the beginning of a wider rollout, with nearly 150 drone routes planned across Himachal Pradesh and Assam, redefining how India’s postal network reaches its remotest regions.
