Our fates here in the U.S. are connected to the fates of people everywhere. Being part of the USAID team has been the honor of a lifetime.
As I sign off, I encourage you to follow @USAID to continue staying updated on the U.S. government’s international development work.
Dr. King accepted the Nobel Peace Prize with “an audacious faith in the future of mankind.” As we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, let us remember Dr. King’s example & renew faith in the possibility of a more free, peaceful & prosperous world.
Our Exit Memo chronicles how together we transformed @USAID during an era of strategic competition & transnational challenges.
Despite these challenges, I leave this role enormously hopeful about the future of this work—the stories here will show you why: https://t.co/KF3fCcZzVW
The U.S. continues to demand that the SAF and RSF bring to a close this latest painful chapter in Sudan’s history. My statement on today’s sanctions against SAF leadership:
Under John Allelo’s leadership, USAID welcomed Armenia into our Democracy Delivers Initiative.
Now, John joins USAID/Moldova as Mission Director at a critical time, as 🇲🇩 continues on its path toward European integration.
Pleased to swear in John this week to the new role.
The UN Group of Experts report on the eastern DRC conflict aligns with U.S. findings. The report underscores the urgency of reaching an agreement that ensures the quick departure of Rwandan forces and quells the threats posed by Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda.
Today, after 466 heartbreaking days, we welcome this ceasefire agreement that will bring the hostages home, end the fighting & surge assistance.
My statement:
Today, after many months of intensive diplomacy by the United States, along with Egypt and Qatar, Israel and Hamas have reached a ceasefire and hostage deal.
My diplomacy never ceased in their efforts to get this done – I will speak more about this soon.

As I saw it, when Putin launched his invasion, I had two jobs: to rally the world to defend Ukraine and avoid war between two nuclear powers.
We did both.
And we've laid the foundation for the next administration to preserve a bright future for the Ukrainian people.
My thoughts are with everyone in Southern California impacted by this terrible disaster. Grateful to the efforts of the brave first responders responding to these catastrophic fires.
I'm surging every federal resource possible to Southern California, including hundreds of federal firefighters, 30 firefighting helicopters and planes, 8 DoD C-130s, and 500 military ground-clearing personnel.
We’re working with @DeptofDefense to identify what more we can surge.
Today, as we mourn the loss of President Carter, we remember how he changed our world for good.
