Today's spot barrel cheddar close of $1.5125 per pound lowest since November 2021. Weekly volume of 70 cars ranks #4 on the all-time list. Not to be outdone: Block close of $1.7750 lowest since September 2022.
Growth in grocery store sales continues to lag inflation. For March sales increased 5.5% year-over-year while food-at-home inflation was up 8.5%. We have sales down 2.6% YOY on an inflation-adjusted basis (with 2018 as the base). Bottom line: volume is down.

5) Bailing out states where risk management utilization is low promotes dependency mentality. We do need to help (CFAP without payment caps), but then we need to educate and get better, not promise that bailout is what one should expect in a crisis.
I know who came up with this idea, I know they care, and that they mean well. But the road to hell is paved by good intentions. This has nothing to do with disorderly marketing or assuring safe and abundant supply of fluid milk. CFAP + no caps is the right solution.
