You decide to stop being angry. So you act calm, speak calmly, look calm. And you're still angry underneath all of it.
That's the flaw in most advice about change: discipline and willpower only manage what you already are. They don't touch it.
The thing that actually changes you is seeing something clearly enough that you can't unsee it. After that there's nothing left to force.
