The proposed 5-Day Banking arrangement itself envisages adjustment of working hours on the remaining five working days.

Technology has transformed banking. Customer access today extends far beyond physical branch counters through ATMs, mobile banking, internet banking, UPI and other digital channels.

What bankers are demanding is a modern, efficient and humane working system.

Reasonable working conditions do not weaken productivity. A motivated and adequately rested workforce strengthens institutions.

Bankers serve the nation with commitment.

As part of the *ongoing UFBU agitation programme for 5-Day Banking, withdrawal/review of the unilateral & discriminatory PLI scheme, and resolution of pending issues of bank employees and officers, demonstrations are being held across the country.*

Today’s IBA–UFBU meeting has yielded no positive outcome on our legitimate and long-pending demands. UFBU has therefore decided to march ahead with the 11th September Strike.

Five-Day Banking remains unimplemented. The unilateral and discriminatory PLI scheme remains unresolved. Residual and pending issues continue to await settlement.

This is the time for UNITY, DISCIPLINE & TOTAL PARTICIPATION.

I appeal to every officer and employee: participate wholeheartedly in all agitational programmes and make the 11th September Strike a resounding success.

Our strength lies in our unity.
When agreements are not honoured, collective action becomes necessary.

Our demands are clear:

✊ Immediate implementation of 5-Day Banking — a commitment already agreed upon cannot remain pending indefinitely.

✊ Fair, Transparent & Inclusive PLI — every officer and employee contributes to the Bank’s performance. A system that divides employees or leaves deserving colleagues with ZERO reward cannot represent true performance recognition.

✊ Resolution of all residual and pending issues through meaningful bilateral dialogue.

Bank employees have waited long enough for implementation of the agreed Five-Day Banking framework. At the same time, PLI must recognise collective contribution, not divide employees through a unilateral and discriminatory mechanism.

Banking success is built by everyone—from business and credit to operations, risk, compliance, audit and customer service.

Honour the agreement. Restore bilateralism. Ensure a fair PLI.

Banking performance cannot be measured by revenue alone.

Risk management prevents losses. Audit safeguards systems. Compliance protects the institution. Prudent credit decisions preserve asset quality. These contributions may not always generate immediate revenue, but they protect the Bank’s future.

A PLI framework that fails to recognise them cannot truly be called “performance-linked.”

And while employees accepted 40 additional minutes of work every day as part of the understanding on Five-Day Banking, implementation still awaits action.

Recognise every contribution. Respect bilateralism. Honour the commitment.
