It is good to remind ourselves; as I have done - in #Britain and the #Europe during #55 years -while clutching the "greasy pole of politics" that there is "no gratitude in politics".
#Churchil discovered that, as did @MrsMThatcher after winning #WW2 and the cold war. Voters do not say thank you - they vote for #promises which can be measured.
Clearly @SriLankaTweet could not measure what goodies they will get by continuing with Ranil and voted instead for other promises - more equity for women, the old and the infirm, for more justice "being seen to be done" and a slate of overdue social reforms.
While congratulating #PresidentialElection2024 @anuradisanayake on a historic victory I believe #NPP can deliver these. For the country to be restored and to grow he needs to deliver much more. He needs massive #foreigninvestments. He needs friends from abroad to wipe out the #debt, increase #exports, create new #jobsimulator, increase #wages. We must all help him to do this. It is not only our duty but also an imperative to help reduce #poverty, increase #opportunity and lift up the country.
