This is a fairly disturbing news. I read through the judgement from the Madras High Court (by Justice GR Swaminathan sitting in the Madurai Bench). I summarise below:

1. There is a village called N.Panchampatti, in the Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu. In this village, there are 2500 Christian Families and 400 Hindu families.

2. There is a vacant government land called Sunkasavadi Ground. Around 100 years ago (During the British rule), a stage was constructed in a part of this land called Pascha stage. During the Christian Easter festival, programs and dramas are held in this stage. Other than this, no religious activity happens in this ground.

3. There was going to be a Kumbabishekam for a Hindu temple in this village and a person called K. Rajamani wanted to provide Annadhanam to the villagers and wanted to use the ground and requested permission from the Tahsildar of Atur Taluk within which this village comes. The Tahsildar denied the request and offered a public road to be used instead. The Police also denied the request on the grounds that this will lead to communal disturbance.

4. This case went to the Madras High Court (at Madurai). The Christian side impleaded and strongly resisted the Hindu side from using the venue. Their point was that the Hindus had never used the ground for any religious activity before whereas the Christians had always used this venue every year during Easter, and that in a peace meeting in 2017 it was agreed between all the parties that no new religious activity will be entertained and only those that were happening over the last 100 years will be allowed to continue.

In other words - only the Easter celebration and no other Hindu celebration ever.

5. Justice GR Swaminathan, in a clear verdict, says this being the Government land, it should be allowed to be used by people of all religions, or by no religion, and that it cannot be made available to one religion and not to the other. He has ordered the police to provide adequate protection.

6. The Christians of the village have obviously not agreed to this judgement and instead of appealing against this in a court of law, they are out there on the road to protest.

I expect liberals and right thinking Christians in Tamil Nadu to give their views on the above matter.

LOP Thiru @RahulGandhi takes immense pleasure in belittling his motherland from foreign soil and speaks of matters not in existence, such as the Hindi Imposition he has spoken about today.

The First National Educational Policy, rolled out by his Grandmother, Smt Indira Gandhi avl, made Hindi Mandatory for all Indians, and the Second National Educational Policy, rolled out by his father, Thiru Rajiv Gandhi avl, encouraged the use and learning of Hindi as a common language for all Indians.

For the first time, the National Education Policy rolled out in 2020 has emphasised learning in one’s mother tongue. The question now is, who imposed Hindi on all citizens of our Country? Was it our Hon PM Thiru @narendramodi avl or the Congress party?

Has Thiru @RahulGandhi forgotten that former Home Minister Thiru @PChidambaram_IN made 117 recommendations to promote Hindi in the 9th Committee of Parliament on Official Language report in 2011? We wish to recommend that Thiru @RahulGandhi read those recommendations and condemn himself for their total disregard the Congress party displayed for regional languages and for imposing Hindi.

As many could voice what our Hon PM has done for their mother tongue, let me express what PM Modi has done for my mother tongue, Tamil:

-For the first time, a Prime Minister of our Country spoke in Tamil at the UN. Addressing the 74th UN General Assembly, our Hon PM said, “Yathum Oore Yavarum Kaeleer”, signifying that the World is one.

-In the Honour of Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathi, his birthday, December 11th, was announced as National Languages Day. A Tamil chair was introduced at Banaras Hindu University.

-For the first time, India witnessed the Government arranging the Sangam of two cultures: The Kashi Tamil Sangamam and the Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam.

-In the first edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam, our Hon PM released Thirukural in 13 languages and in Braille in the 2nd edition as part of his aspiration to release Thirukural in at least 100 languages, a testament to his respect for our diverse linguistic heritage.

-To promote the classical status of the Tamil Language, our Hon PM inaugurated the new campus of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) at a cost of ₹24 crore.

-The Chola Pride, the symbol of the transfer of power from colonial British to Independent India, the Sengol, banished as a walking stick in a museum, is now restored to its rightful place in the new parliament building.

-To preserve Tamil Culture and history in Northern Sri Lanka, our Hon PM sanctioned the construction of the Jaffna Cultural Centre for ₹120 Crores.

-Our Hon PM announced a Statue for Saint Thiruvalluvar in Cergy, France, during his visit in July 2023, and it was established in December 2023.

-The recent announcement of establishing the Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre in Singapore.

Our Hon PM Thiru @narendramodi avl has taken the pride of Tamil across the world like never before, and it is understandable for the Congress party to feel the anguish of not being able to deliver 10% of what PM Modi has done to promote regional language despite being in power for 6 decades.
