🇱🇮 BREAKING: LIECHTENSTEIN’S HEREDITARY PRINCE VETOES ABORTION BILL - PROTECTING UNBORN LIFE
In a significant victory for the protection of unborn children, Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein has vetoed legislation that would have legalised abortion during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

The decision marks the first time Prince Alois has exercised his veto during his regency, blocking a bill that had narrowly passed the country’s parliament by just 13 votes to 12 on the 2nd of September 2026.

The proposed legislation would have decriminalised abortion during the first trimester, removed restrictions on information about killing unborn babies and allowed abortion costs to be covered by health insurance.

But Prince Alois stood firm, declaring that the proposed reform was not compatible with ensuring adequate protection for unborn life as a fundamental legal value.

A DEFENCE OF THE RIGHT TO LIFE
Every unborn child has inherent dignity and the right to life, regardless of size, stage of development or circumstances of conception. This decision is a reminder that the protection of unborn children remains a matter of profound moral importance. Women facing difficult pregnancies deserve compassionate care, practical assistance and genuine support, without sacrificing the lives of their unborn children.
