A layman ‘stalking’ PF, with a particular interest in the impacts PF may have on NZ & Australia's dairying communities. (❤️ doesn’t necessarily = endorsement.)
@Dairy_News Sure, an odd tweet for me to ‘like’ given the reason I crafted this twitter profile.
However, my 🇦🇺 employer’s heavily engaged in robotic dairying (explains my direct interest in the potential impact of alt milk…) These articles communicate the benefits of robotic milking.
@OSGuido@SOSV@TryBoredCow Hi @TryBoredCow. Tony here, chiming in from Victoria, Australia.
Two things: firstly, interested to learn the why behind the brand name, Bored Cow.
And, is there anywhere I can purchase your products in 🇦🇺?
It's safe to say that @annaballa9 knows PF. Also, as a dairy farmer Anna has as much skin in the game as anyone you could care to ask.
She's building a brilliant repository of PF intel/info on LinkedIn - search for Navigatethefuture - if you'd like to be kept in the know.
@NewNutritionB "Free from synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, antibiotics..."
Does that statement pass the pub test, given what I understand 2B the realities of the application rates of those pdcts onto most pastures supporting NZ dairying?
At 7:15 Vince states “This transition is going to be hard on dairy farmers...”
If what I’m picking up about PF pans out, ‘hard’ undercooks the potential reality.
And the flow-on impact on dairying communities??? That’s barely rated a mention anywhere, yet. 😕😳🤷🏼♂️
One of a series of short (8-10 minute’ish) clips put together by Vince Werner.
This one kicks off with a frank warning for dairying.
“Say Cheese! Cultured milk is ready for its closeup.”

I find myself re-watching parts of @MilkedFilm & ending up... 🤔 😳 🐄 📉
For instance, tonight:
“NZ’s dairy exports could be wiped out without a single consumer changing (their purchasing) behaviour... This is all a B2B disruption.”
Tony Seba, RethinkX Co-Founder.
“The real cost of dairy”... Otago Daily Times https://t.co/rVVfoIsgL0
Interesting editorial. Reinforces an issue touched on in Amy Taylor’s Milked.
(BTW I’m staying🇨🇭in the debate - trying to view it from all angles. Mentioning Amy’s doco isn’t an expression of endorsement.)
@annaballa9 @PerfectDayFoods@TryBoredCow (The main theme of the song, is what I mean. Not expecting you to understand the minutiae behind all Paul’s lyrics).
@theproof @annaballa9 - I’m tipping you’d have bumped into this particular 🧵 from Simon sooner rather than later.
It’s generated a decent suite of comments. (Though many use terms/phrases/industry jargon that’s (currently) still sitting outside my wheelhouse. 🥴😕)
@annaballa9 ... and as I understand it ‘we’ {ie the food gurus who really understand this stuff. (And I’m not one!)} ‘only’ have to replace the 3.something % that’s protein - most of which is casein. (Which is precisely what PF can deliver.)
Am I on the right track?
@CraigBuntNZ @annaballa9 ...and for what it’s worth @CraigBuntNZ, I second your recommendation.
PF - and how it *may* impact dairying as we have come to know it - is, at the very least, an eye opener.
Animal-free dairy start-up @Remilk_Foods plans to build its first fully-owned large-scale production facility in Denmark. The local gov't has been supportive, with one rep calling the move "an important step toward an even more sustainable future for food."https://t.co/gFBnmDXKZk
@annaballa9 I’m Tony, a layman who bumped into PF by utter fluke earlier this year. (Thanks Tristan, on Facebook... 🥴)
💯% interested in how it may/could/will/won’t (?) impact dairying as we (esp. Kiwis & Aussies) know it - or at least perceive it - to be.
It’s early, early days.
Tweet # 1!
Why am I "stalking" Precision Fermentation? What's driving my interest? Why should I care about it? (Why should anyone with even the smallest slither of skin in the dairying industry be interested?)
I don't know, yet.
But hope to find out.
Starting, now.
Can finally share! We're building the world's LARGEST #precisionfermentation facility, in Denmark, which will replace 50k cows annually, and is part of the trailblazing @KalSymbiosis circular approach to production, turning #wastestream in one company into a #resource in another.
In particular, check out Eden Brew (@EdenBrewDairy). They've 'found a way to produce the same proteins found in cow's milk using PF, essentially enabling them to 'brew' their milk".
"The future of precision fermentation in our food"... a decent blog post from PharmOut.
(From their website, I gained a vibe PharmOut's involved in pharmaceutical / veterinary / medical device consultancy business. Focuses on the Asia Pacific region).

I've been seeking the flip-side of the Milked story, presuming somebody's prepared to call BS on the claims. But, so far... zilch. Everything seems 2B pointing in the same direction.
But don't take my word for it.
Hear what Vince Werner has to say.
