An asylum seeker from Afghanistan has been jailed after molesting a 13-year-old schoolgirl in Ellesmere Port.

MEET Sayed Hasib, of no fixed abode, appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 March 2026 and was sentenced to 12 months in custody.

The 30-year-old, who is from Afghanistan, had pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault.

Shortly before 6pm on Saturday 21 March 2026, officers were called to South Pier Road, Ellesmere Port, following reports that a man had molested a 13-year-old girl

Officers attended the scene and Hasib was immediately arrested. Following questioning he was later charged with the offence.
