My boyhood hero & a simply fantastic keeper for England & Derby. A master of his craft with a brilliant all-round game. A model of consistency with incredible longevity at the very highest level. A true goalkeeping legend ๐๐. I will never forget how much I idolised him as a boy
It's the World Cup & Shilts is being discussed a lot as per usual.
The lack of respect & hatred for Shilts on here never fails to surprise me.
Back in 1990 at Italia 90 and afterwards Shilts was respected & wasn't blamed for England not reaching the Final. Yet now he is!
@Farnhamite@harlequin1974@stumac_71@80s90sfootball@Peter_Shilton I couldn't agree with you more. He was respected at Italia 90 and following Italia 90 as this article testifies. But now it is very different and I just don't understand why. It is very wrong and very sad.
@JohnCleese Crazy, absolutely crazy.
What would Brunel say, what would he say ๐ค?
As a boy you grow up loving your Country's history and heroes.
Then as an adult you honour and celebrate them.
There is nothing wrong with this at all.
@TavernFootball Houses all around festooned with England flags etc etc. Cars flying England flags. The belief & feeling that this year it is coming home. Only for us to be knocked out ..... yet again.
