Amazon’s customers paid the extra costs of the tariffs, but Amazon, which is owned by Trump’s billionaire ally, gets the $640 million refund.

You are confusing terrorism with religion and that is exactly the kind of thinking extremists want people to have.
The 9/11 attackers were terrorists who happened to be Muslim. Their crime was terrorism, not Islam. Just like when a school shooter happens to be Christian or Jewish or atheist, we do not blame the entire religion or ban everyone who shares their faith. We blame the individual who committed the crime.
New York City did not elect someone because of religion, they elected someone based on leadership, policy positions, and democracy. The whole point of America is that we judge people by their actions and character, not their faith or ethnicity. If we abandon that principle, then the terrorists win because we start acting out of fear instead of American values.
So let me be crystal clear: New Yorkers were attacked by terrorists, not by a religion. And trying to punish or exclude millions of peaceful Americans because of the actions of a few violent extremists is not patriotism, it is ignorance, and it spits on everything this country stands for.
@SpeakerJohnson That line is getting old. Republicans have had plenty of opportunities to come up with their own healthcare plan and they haven't because they want to privatize everything and make sure their oligarch friends can make lots of money.
@HawleyMO@realDonaldTrump Who spends that kind of money on an addition to a house they're only going to live in for the next three years? Or is he never leaving?
@ThomasSowell First they do away with property taxes then they find a way to do away with your homes. Then only the wealthy will own property and the rest of us will be paying for the maintenance of the roads, police, fire, utilities, etc.
Ronnie, that’s a ridiculous analogy, and here’s why. When you buy a TV at Best Buy, you pay sales tax because it’s a one-time transaction. You own it, you take it home, and that’s the end of it. But when you buy property, you’re not buying a single consumer product, you’re buying land and a structure that exist inside a community that depends on ongoing services.
Property taxes don’t pay for your house, they pay for everything around it that gives your property value, the roads, schools, firefighters, police, clean water, sewer, and infrastructure that make your neighborhood livable and keep your home worth something. If those things disappeared tomorrow, your house would lose value fast, no matter how nice it is.
So comparing a TV purchase to property ownership is like comparing a goldfish to an aquarium. One is a thing you buy once, the other is a system you have to maintain to keep it functioning. Property taxes are how we maintain that system.
Without them, you wouldn’t have paved streets, working utilities, public safety, or schools to attract buyers when you sell your home. You’d just have land and chaos.
@SenTedCruz That's BS. If there were paychecks for protesting, Republicans would be signing up just to prove it. I do it for free because my country is worth saving.
Bill Clinton proves Marco Rubio is lying, right here, clear as day: WE forced Ukraine to give up their nukes, cruise missiles, and strategic bombers: WE promised to protect Ukraine from Russia; WE made Ukraine vulnerable. So yeah, THIS IS OUR WAR.
Blackstone didn't buy 274,000 homes to be landlords.
They spent $1 trillion turning homeownership into subscription housing.
They are creating a generation that will own nothing and rent everything.
While families dream of white picket fences, Wall Street dreams of permanent tenants 🧵
@la_sacerdotista @rookcoder @DHSgov They pay into the Social Security system that you will benefit from and that they will never be able to collect from. They also pay income taxes and help local economies. Stop watching Fox News. Maybe you'd like to apply for some of the jobs they do that no one else will.
Our taxpayer dollars should not be spent funding human rights abuses, period. Add your name to demand Congress immediately STOP funding for CECOT and demand an independent investigation into the megaprison. https://t.co/rjJ1XHu3GV
