An airport in a major metropolis is no longer just a functional bus depot with wings—it is the front porch to Tamil Nadu’s economy and the first impression for global investors, tourists, and businesses. AAI's lack of competitive drive and accountability is actively eroding Chennai's viability as an international hub. When officials get paid regardless of footfall quality, passenger experience, or route development, there is zero incentive to compete with world-class facilities in Bengaluru or Hyderabad.
Focusing solely on slightly higher User Development Fees (UDF) ignores the hidden costs travelers already pay:
Lost Time and Added Ordeals: Thousands of passengers from Chennai routinely transit or take painful domestic hops through BLR, HYD, or Middle Eastern hubs simply because major long-haul carriers avoid MAA.
Economic Costs: The extra time, layovers, and transit flights cost passengers far more in actual money and stress than an incremental airport charge ever would.
Loss of Direct Connectivity: Airlines prioritize airports with modern turnaround infrastructure, efficient slot management, and passenger pull. Chennai is falling off direct international flight maps because of stagnation.
AAI can test reform and decentralization experiments elsewhere. The growth and convenience of a major industrial and economic powerhouse shouldn't be sacrificed waiting for a bureaucracy to reform itself. Chennai deserves infrastructure that matches its economic stature, not excuses.

A bulk of the cited commitments—like Samvardhana Motherson—involve domestic-rooted players that routinely negotiate directly back home. Flying across continents to ink standard MoUs that could have been signed in Chennai is an avoidable drain on the state exchequer.
Accountability for the missing itinerary: The visit lasted over a week, yet official meetings account for barely half that time. What happened during the rest of the tour? Was this a hybrid private holiday packaged inside a diplomatic visit? If personal itineraries were involved, has the Chief Minister reimbursed the state exchequer for those days, or did public taxpayers foot the bill for private leisure?
Tamil Nadu's economy needs strategic industrial policy, transparent governance, and real jobs—not staged vanity tours.

Calling critics "ashamed of their own country" is just an excuse to ignore the problem.
Comparing a movie star crowd to Lewis Hamilton or Premier League matches makes no sense. Those sports events have massive security, clear rules, and permits to handle huge crowds safely. A racing paddock is a professional workspace, not a movie set. Organizers and drivers weren't amazed by the crowd; they were dealing with a genuine safety and logistical headache.
Following rules and respecting public space isn't an "inferiority complex"—it is basic civic sense.
The worst part is who gets hurt by this behavior. The film star flies back home, and well-settled expats with permanent status won't be affected. The people who actually pay the price are young students, new visa holders, and job seekers trying hard to build a future.
Anti-immigrant sentiment is already high, and host countries are increasingly worried about integration. Videos of chaotic mobs just give anti-immigration groups easy fuel to claim that immigrants refuse to assimilate. It puts an unfair target on the most vulnerable people in the community who are simply trying to earn a living with dignity.

First Parandur proved that all it takes to derail a multi-crore infrastructure roadmap is a handful of vocal pushbacks, and now even a Secretariat can't survive basic political friction. Why bother pitching a "Trillion Dollar Economy" to global investors when the operating manual is essentially reverse gear at every speed bump?

Fairness bias is everywhere, not just Kollywood. Claiming Tamils "hate their own women" is just absurd.
Historically, local representation was limited largely because orthodox societal attitudes discouraged Tamil women from entering cinema. As that changes, so does casting.
Also, assuming only Brahmin women are fair completely ignores the diversity of Tamil Nadu. While colorism is a real issue, things are gradually and certainly changing—plenty of recent Tamil films feature dusky heroines front and center.
