Brian Sandoval was appointed the 17th president of the University of Nevada, Reno, on Sept. 17, 2020. He is the first University alumnus to serve as president.

I was excited to visit Edward C. Reed High School this morning! As one of the University's Collegiate Academy schools in Washoe County, students at Reed are already on their way to earning college credit thanks to the dual enrollment program. It was an incredible honor to participate in a roundtable this morning hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy, the White House National Security Council, and the National Energy Dominance Council alongside Assistant Secretary of Energy Audrey Robertson, Associate Dean for the College of Science Scott Bassett, and recent University graduate Brayden GoodrichThe discussion focused on how students make education and career decisions and what support is needed to help universities and students succeed. It was a privilege to attend the National Mining Association reception in Washington, D.C., last night and connect with mining industry executives, educators, and future industry leaders. I especially appreciated the opportunity to spend time with Rich Nolan, President and CEO of the National Mining Association, and Dr. Heather Wilson, President of UTEP. Conversations like these reinforce the critical role mining plays in powering our economy and developing the next generation of talent. #GoPack
