A 17-year-old boy from Augusta, Georgia — identified as Stanley Jamar Lomax Jr. — was arrested and charged with first-degree cruelty to children after reportedly trying to discipline his 11-year-old sister with a belt. The incident happened on September 26, when Lomax was left in charge of his eight younger siblings while their mother was away. Deputies responded to the family’s home after the children’s father contacted law enforcement about the situation.

According to the arrest report, video footage showed Lomax striking his sister multiple times with a belt while she screamed and tried to protect herself with her hands. He later admitted to “whooping” her but claimed he did not intend to cause harm — saying that she was moving around during the punishment, which caused the belt to hit various parts of her body.
