Do you have a way with words? 🤩 Now is your chance to get your creative skills flowing for our first-ever #poetry competition! Focusing on 'Identity and #Community' you have the chance to share your poem during our Digital Week in August: https://t.co/IddkDw145Q #lgbt#pride
We are grateful to @WelshGovernment and @cardiffcouncil for their ongoing support and to partners such as @AdmiralGroup, who are working with us on our upcoming plans. We also want to give a huge thank you to every one of you who continue to engage and support what we do. 💙
Our virtual Big Week will run from Monday 24 August 2020 to Sunday 30 August 2020 in a series of collaborations and events presented alongside new and existing partners. It will be a time for us all to celebrate our diverse community, and we cannot wait to share our plans 🙌
Most importantly, it will be a week in which we will stand together as one, as we share the love and support that you can only experience at a Pride event. 💕
It will be a week in which our communities still have the opportunity to stay connected, to raise awareness and to share their messages across available platforms.
It will not stop us from continuing with the ongoing protest and work needed to achieve equality and tolerance in our daily lives across Wales. 🏴
We could not in good conscience continue to plan for an event which attracts over 50,000 people to Cardiff.
While the pandemic prevents us from physically coming together as one community to march through the city, it will not stop us from celebrating the LGBT+ community. 🙌❤️️
As the days have passed, it has become clear that - despite a decline in the spread of the virus - large-scale events like Pride Cymru's Big Weekend remain unsafe.
The health and safety of our community, volunteers, performers, suppliers and contractors are our priority.
An update about Pride Cymru’s Big Weekend 🌈💕
Since the Coronavirus pandemic began, we've held out hope that circumstances would improve and that we would be able to physically celebrate Pride as one community in August.
