As part of my ongoing meetings with various identifiable groups, my policy team and I had an engaging and productive session today with the Ghana Institution of Engineering.

We had fruitful discussions focused on innovative solutions to address various problems in areas such as Urban transport, infrastructure, public procurement and value for money amongst others. No nation can develop without the valuable input of engineers, scientists, technologists and other professionals and we are determined to make sure we factor in their inputs as we put together policies to solve many of Ghana’s problems.

My sincere thanks to the President of the Ghana Institution of Engineering, the President-Elect, the Vice-President and other members who kindly attended the meeting to share their ideas.

The problem isn’t that the goal was disallowed—the problem is the inconsistency. One week that’s given, the next week it isn’t. Players, managers, and fans have absolutely no idea what the standard is anymore.

I don’t care how good the finish was. If you shove a defender to create the chance, you’ve given the referee a decision to make. But if you’re going to disallow that, then be brave enough to punish every identical incident for every team. That’s what frustrates everyone.

VAR was brought in to make football fair, yet every big game ends with people arguing about officials instead of talking about the football. That’s not progress that’s failure.

The referee and VAR have to stop hiding behind slow-motion replays and start applying the laws consistently. Fans can accept difficult decisions, but they will never accept different rules for different teams. That’s what’s destroying trust in the game.”

In line with the directive of the Party leadership and His Excellency the President, I urge all my constituents and the good people of Okaikwei Central Constituency to fully support and comply with the President’s directive on the two-day nationwide clean-up exercise scheduled for Friday, 10th July, to Saturday, 11th July 2026.
