I saw a TikTok story and couldn’t stop laughing. 😂

A woman said her boyfriend keeps complaining because she never allows him visit her at home. She told him she’s living with her elder brother and his family, and they don’t like visitors.

As the relationship got more serious, the man wanted to meet this elder brother, talk to him man to man, and even rent an apartment for her.

The problem?

The “elder brother” is actually her husband. 😭

The funniest part is that she’s not even planning to leave her marriage.

But what really shocked me was the comment section. I went there expecting people to drag her, only to find women casually sharing their own stories about side relationships and husbands who had no idea what was going on. 😳

At that point, I forgot the original story. I was just scrolling the comments wondering, “What exactly is happening here ?”

The remote job world is sadly unfair to Nigerians.

It feels like the entire system is rigged against us.

PayPal, Stripe, and Google Voice are unavailable. TikTok monetization, Google AdSense, Facebook, X and Instagram payouts are either blocked or nearly impossible to get meaningful payments.

On Fiverr, getting gigs is a serious struggle. Most surveys exclude us, and even advertising agencies and clients don’t want to pay Nigerian publishers because of low local purchasing power.

I’m sharing this because it was a genuine culture shock for me.

My department is currently wrapping up the second semester, and so far we’ve had 2 exams. Same course, but two different professors taught different parts of it.

Now here’s what shocked me.

Our first exam was on Tuesday, and instead of just ending her part of the course, our professor organized a “Beach and Business” program. Different companies came to speak with us, and we even had a keynote speaker from Microsoft.

After the program, there was all-you-can-eat pizza and lots of drinks for everyone.

Then yesterday, after our second exam, the second professor organized an evening all-you-can-eat BBQ. He sponsored everything himself, cooked the food, arranged everything, and all we had to do was show up, eat, play games, and have a good time.

I actually got emotional afterwards.

I told my classmates that this was the first time in my life I’d seen professors organize things like this for students. They just looked at me and said, “That’s normal here.”

Chai… I honestly pray everyone who desires it gets the opportunity to experience education outside Nigeria at least once.

It’s not even just about the quality of education. It’s the entire experience. The way students are treated, the environment, and the little things that make learning enjoyable.

It’s been a beautiful culture shock for me.

One guy was fighting with the owner of a charging shop outside our compound this evening because his phone was 97% instead of 100%.

He plugged his phone around 4:30 PM and came back around 7:30 PM to collect it.

When he saw that the battery was 97% instead of 100%, he said he would only pay ₦200 instead of the normal ₦300.

The shop owner told him that 97% and 100% were practically the same thing.

Omo… they started arguing immediately.
Before we knew it, they were dragging shirts.

Neighbours came outside to separate them.

In the end, one man completed the remaining ₦100 and settled the matter.

Me: Na NEPA I blame.
Because what’s really the difference between 97% and 100% that people should be fighting over?

Omor relationships these days will humble you.

So this guy has only been dating a girl for just 2 weeks.

Everything was moving fine until one day, he received a random WhatsApp message from his girlfriend’s friend. Casual chatting started. Before he knew it, the conversation became flirty.

One thing led to another and the girl invited him over to her house.

My guy no think am twice huh

He dressed up, sprayed perfume, arranged himself and went straight to the location.

Only for him to knock…

And his actual girlfriend opened the door shocked

At first, he tried to defend himself saying:
“Baby calm down, na normal visit…”

But the girlfriend carried another phone and showed him the full chats between him and her friend.

That was when he realized he had entered one chance.

Apparently, the girlfriend planned the entire thing herself to test his loyalty.

My guy immediately switched to apology mode. Begging. Explaining. Sweating.

The relationship became shaky after that.

The girlfriend started snubbing him, acting cold, replying late and all.

But here’s where the story became cinema grin

During that period, the same friend that helped expose him started apologizing to him privately.

She told him:
“I didn’t really want to do it. Your girlfriend forced me.”

They kept talking little by little again.

Then early this week, she invited him to her house.

And this guy still went tongue

Guess who opened the door again?

At that point, nobody can save him again.

Bro failed the same exam twice with extra time and correction sheet. Honestly, some people are not victims. They are just committed to self destruction

This also happened to me.

I once called my uncle abroad telling him I needed N1M to settle hospital bills.

I promised to pay him back in 5 months.

Without hesitation, he sent it immediately.

We agreed I would return N200k monthly.

When I called to send the first repayment, he said:

“Don’t send it to me. Just keep it in your account until you complete everything.”

So I kept saving N200k every month with no pressure, no reminders.

By the last month, I called him to say I had completed the full N1M.

He just said: “Keep it for now.”

A few days later, he called again and said I should give my wife N100k, and still take N200k from the money 😃

Then months later, he came into Nigeria, visited my house with gifts and perfumes like nothing happened.

I finally asked him about the money.

He just laughed and said “Yaya Anash 😃 if you ever have any problem, use it.”

That was when it hit me!

Some people don’t just lend you money.

They give you peace of mind disguised as a loan.

When I was a PA, a young lady came to our office to see my boss
She said she got an offer from someone in Abuja to secure a federal government job slot
She said the slot was for sale for 5 Million Naira, and it was her uncle who told her about the opportunity.

She believed that if she secured the job, with a guaranteed salary of 800,000 Naira a month and other benefits, including job security, she would be able to fulfil her dream of having a good career

My boss told her it was a very bad deal and advised her not to take it
He told her the people who reached out to her are most likely swindlers or those who wanted to swindle her uncle
He told her not to have any business dealings with such people

She said she had heard and, after thanking my boss for sound counsel, she left our office

A week later, another church member came to see my boss. She said she has been invited to appear at the police station because she stood as guarantor for one of the church members and the church member had committed fraud at her place of work.

We got into the car and drove to the police station with this woman.
When we got there, we were shocked to see this lady
The one who wanted to buy a slot behind the police counter
She was the one who had committed the fraud
Her employer caught her and handed her over to the police

What happened.
She said she needed to raise the five million Naira demanded by his uncle so that the opportunity of securing that slot would not pass her by
She emptied her bank account and sent the total amount in it to her uncle.
The total amount was 1.8 million

Her uncle told her she had to do better than that, so she reached out to friends and family members.
She borrowed another two million Naira, including the rent of her elder sister's place
She sent the money to her uncle, hoping that her uncle would support her with the balance
He didn't.

She was given eight hours to raise the balance.
Out of desperation, she went to the office and raised a requisition for a bill that their office had already paid to the state signage company, and insisted that the funds be released to her immediately
The total amount was two million Naira
The accountant was an admirer of hers, and he sent her the money
She sent the money to her uncle
She had raised the five million, and she expected to receive a letter of appointment immediately

Her uncle called her thirty minutes later, stammering and stuttering
The people who called him to offer him the slot had stopped picking up his calls
She began to cry in the office
The accountant saw her crying and realised he had fumbled and would be in trouble
He reported her to the Manager and the manager got the police involved

The police officer in charge of the case reached out to her guarantor to see how the issue could be sorted out before she was formally charged with fraud.
My boss couldn't believe it
How would you give someone good counsel, and the person will do the opposite while expecting you to save him or her from the consequences of disobedience

The guarantor begged
The lady begged
Her uncle and family members begged
Nobody had any money to spare, and they didn't want her to be formally charged with a crime that would ruin her life and career

We spent hours there
At the end of the day, THE CHURCH, not my boss, paid off the two million she owed her employer
The church also went ahead to plead on her behalf so that she would retain her job, and my boss stood as her guarantor because the former guarantor insisted that she must be immediately removed as her guarantor for that job

As for the fraudsters, they disappeared without a trace
She said if someone had told her that she would ever fall victim of such a scam, she would deny it
She said it was the assurance that her uncle, who was at the time working with the Federal government, gave her regarding the slot that convinced her that it was an opportunity of a lifetime.

At the end of the day, her uncle didn't help her with a penny of his money.

PS: Many people have already made up their minds what they want to do and only ask you for counsel so that you can validate their decision.
If you go against their decision, they will still do what they wanted to do.
This was the lesson I learnt from that episode

My neighbor’s wife is a private chef, so she mostly works from Wednesday to Sunday and only comes back home on Monday mornings. Because he’s always alone at home, this man is constantly on my neck every evening 😭😂

I’ve already informed my neighbor that we’re going to the Island to chill… and this man is excited too 👺😂

I mistakenly sent 2,300 naira for a product instead of 23,000 naira this afternoon to a vendor at his shop. What’s funny is that I left the shop without the seller noticing, and I didn’t realize it myself until tonight. I had been busy editing since I got home and hadn't needed to make any transfers until I went to buy data.
I noticed I had extra cash, even though I thought I’d spent 23,000 Naira earlier. Knowing that money doesn't just appear in my account out of nowhere only when I’m being paid for a job, I checked my transactions and saw the 2,300 Naira. I realized then that I hadn't fully paid for the product.
I rushed back to the shop immediately not long ago to see if the person was still there. I found him and explained what happened. He had already noticed the error, and I could see the joy on his face seeing me return.. he was so happy he even offered to buy me a drink. Imagine if I were the type to just see it as “Luck”… the seller would have lost that money.
I’m so happy I returned to complete my payment.

They will tell you that night duty in a government hospital is just stressful.

They are lying. Working the midnight shift is how you secretly find out that half the ghastly accidents on our dark expressways are not caused by bad roads, brake failure, or drunk driving.

I work in the scanning department. We do X-rays and those big body scans. Our building is completely separated from the main hospital blocks, so in the dead of the night, it is just you, the freezing AC, and the loud humming of the machines.

Around 3 AM, two ward boys from the Emergency unit rushed a woman in on a stretcher.

The paper they brought simply read: RTA(Road Traffic Accident).

I walked over to the stretcher to help move her onto the scanning bed, and my spirit completely left my body.

Do you know; At a point i understood Azula. I had to reminisce on when she was little, she was jealous of her older brother Zuko because he had all the love and attention from their mother. Azula was love-starved during her childhood. If you read the comic book after the War had ended, Zuko set out go look for his mum with Azula, When They finally met withe their mum who has taken a new identity, the first confrontation of Azula against her mum was that LOVE. She felt her mum never loved her.

Saying that girls will only give you sex for money or in a relationship with you is a big fat lie. In 2019 when I got into the University, there’s this girl staying next door o started talking to and she was all fun I thought it was just a caring neighbor stuff and all that then things started getting really intense. I told my roommate and he was like “I think she likes you why don’t you ask her on a date” at first I didn’t want to push things quick but I decided to shoot my shot.
