On Training Marksmanship with or without Kit:

Most marksmanship skill should be developed without kit. Kit is definitely distracting, hot, heavy, etc.

Marksmanship fundamentals do not change with kit. There is little difference in shooting slick or with a helmet, plates, NVGs, gas mask, etc if one is training appropriately.

However, one must train in one’s kit. It is the only way to pressure test one’s gear, to individualize the setup, and to make sure that the marksmanship training is relevant and applicable to duty equipment.
