I've been doing this on discogs ever since I started selling there. Just a little business card sized sketch that I slip in the box with the CDs I sell, but it's still fun π₯Ή
Hardcore CD collector who's collected CDs for 20+ years, with 10,000+ CDs in my possession
I have seen a disc with rot on it like maybe 7 times ever. These things last, as long as you put them back in their cases and don't leave them in humidity or drown them.
I had a dream that Daryl Braithwaite did a cover of Material Girl by Madonna, and he did it in a style similar to his song Down Down.
Sounded really cool.
The fact this is LA's oldest record store is depressing. It's VERY unwelcoming. I don't care if his collection is the size of DJ Shadow's. The owner comes across like he doesn't want to sell it.
Go to Amoeba, Freakbeat, Rockaway, CD Trader, Record Surplus, or anywhere else in LA.
Nah dude. Fuck them. The guy who runs it's a rude boomer who made racist comments toward my Columbian friend & accused me of being "the reason Trump got elected" because I asked if they also carried CDs. His "Bring a list" mantra contradicts the whimsy of browsing a record store.
Has anyone in LA ever been to this shop?
It has a 1.9 star review on Yelp.
The hundreds of bad reviews talk about the owners being impatient, berating customers for browsing; even hurling insults at potential buyers for their lack of music knowledge. The occasional good reviews all say they came in
for specific purchases, the owner told them the same story about his collection and then they leave.
I went a few years ago randomly after walking by, I ended up with a record but it was a pretty brutal experience honestly.

@WannaTradePants Hey, you got DMs open? I'm interested in something in your CD collection. I'd like to know where to get a copy, or if I could buy your copy off you. Thanks. I sent a friend request over Discord if you prefer messaging there. :)
He has an insanely huge collection (pic); but it's 80% old classical & 20% shit condition records; and he does NOT allow browsing.
The Yelp reviews are wild. The fact this is LA's oldest record store is depressing. It's VERY unwelcoming.

There's a record shop on Melrose (The Record Collector) that's very much like this place.
