"While there is a lower class, I am in it, while there is a criminal element, I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free." Eugene V. Debs
🚨We’re hearing🚨
Parchman has the heating boiler unit on higher than 100 degrees & they are in behind bars, no water or food, and fire in A bldg.
These inmates are struggling to breathe due to boilers for heat. The fire is a deadly situation.
@MS_MDOC we demand a response NOW!
MDOC Commissioner, Burl Cain, says everything is in working order now but we know that is not often the case. Reach out to your loved ones inside to make sure they have adequate & appropriate resources/food. If not, call & demand they get what they need immediately!
Mississippi Prisons never adequately addressed/corrected their inhumane living conditions. There are incarcerated folks without heat right now and without other means to keep warm. Cooking staff isn’t showing up in this weather so they are being fed dry cereal and bologna.
The deliberate callousness treatment of the incarcerated is a humanitarian crisis that is not discussed enough.
It is parallel to capitalism’s abuse of the working class, and the liberation of both workers and those incarcerated are bound together.
Proud to say @MississippiRise and @PrisonReformMS stands in solidarity with Garrett! We are extremely grateful for everything he does for incarcerated folks and the work he puts in for their liberation. ❤️🖤
No matter how much I wanted to, neither the courts nor the prison system provided an opportunity for me to make amends for the harm I’ve caused. Sentencing someone to prison is not the same as holding them accountable.
