In Korea, nobody celebrates Women’s Day. Most women got shocked after learning the fact that Women’s Day is a big thing all around the world.

I want to talk about wonderful women who have been spearheading Korean women’s movement on Twitter. They were just group of women who wanted to get masters/phd/job opportunities outside of Korea. At first I thought they wanted better education and life. I was wrong. They wanted to escape Korea.

I formed 2 rooms with 100 women each where we talked about life and such. Then telegram exploded in Korea and Media was not covering. Since they were already highly educated and fluent in English, they jumped into spread awareness around the world by translating any and all information from Korea. Prior to this, they only tweeted in Korean.

This was all new to them. A whole new world. They’ve never engaged with foreigners before. The day we uploaded our hashtag campaign notice, girls said it was such an empowering experience. They did not know using English and reaching out to international friends could be so impactful and powerful.

They also did not know so many strangers on other side of the world cared and were willing to help. They were so moved. I don’t think they will ever forget this. They have more international followers than Koreans now. Still translating everyday. I am extremely proud of every single one of them.

Unless Korea changes and become a safer place, they are only going to drive these brilliant women away. It’s such a shame and a loss to the country.

Anyway, I want to salut them. I’m very proud and grateful. You’ve made an impact. You did it!! Live life with sense of purpose!! ❤️❤️

Thank you everyone so much!! The girls really worked hard on this project. They’ve never done it before yet stayed up to 2am in Korea to finish.

Some have not showered and eaten to get translations done. Some have matched victims with various media around the world for interviews. They have my upmost respect. Normal girls became superwomen.

All of us are exhausted. Time coordination with me and Korea was daunting. Still we managed to work as a team.

I think I’ll remember this for the rest of my life. I truly hope some good will come out of it.

Now I’ll take some rest. I was only able to do this bc my hubby and son were in Europe. I have to go pick them up in few hours and start cooking. Real life awaits.

Again, I appreciate everyone who supported and encouraged us to go on!
