@fantasynut_afl We would only do that if we were sure Carlton would match a bid for Walker. Otherwise we're giving up the compo pick by not bidding on Cochrane
@E_Essendonyt This may be completely true, but it is still our right as long-suffering Essendon supporters to bitch and moan all day about Brisbane bending us over again 🫠
@SilentGhost263 Oh come on, 2024 wasn't a diluted draft, it was hailed as a mega draft. One of the deepest and most talented drafts we've seen. That's why North gave up 2025 pick 8. And yes, on talent Logan Morris was quite clearly an outlier for pick 2 of round 2
@SilentGhost263 I don't dispute that it gives us more trade capital to hold it, rather than trading it now. But your examples are outliers. Morris was a steal and no one is giving us a top-10 draft pick for it. Sometimes we just put too high a value on draft picks vs proven players
@Ro0STA@Bombers_Boss@aflratings_GM I think the Walker bid comes at 3, not 2, but the result is effectively the same. The fact clubs can still trade picks after today makes it tough to predict, even if you're confident of when bids come
@LJ49602786@Jacomo31288674@PrinceISname He's an unrestricted free agent in 2027. If you keep him and he doesn't play regular senior footy, he's probably going to walk for something like a band 3 compo to a club that will pay him more and play him more. That might not be Essendon though
@jc000013@BomberBanter_au It's not. It comes in to pick 25 or 26 after the Cochrane and Walker bids, because each of those will use 2 picks to match. Bris 20 comes in to 18. 26 and 18 get them to pick 8 (+20%) with a deficit. But I fully understand Bris not wanting a deficit. 21 would solve things
@KRUDLER62@GoDons7777@essendonfc@AFL only 3 picks will be added at the end of the 1st round, due to Port and North trading their top 5 selections. And these only come into existence at the start of night 2. They won't affect Brisbane using 26 to match a Murray bid. That said, I'm fine with us trading pick 21
@KRUDLER62@GoDons7777@essendonfc@AFL Pick 27 will likely come in to 26 at the point a bid for Murray happens, since Port and Carlton will each use multiple picks to match bids on Cochrane and Walker
@FlightPlanPod And the AFL screwed us. Gave Brisbane an extra 10 minutes beyond the allowed 5 minutes to work out how to match the bid. He shouldv'e been a Bomber from the outset
