Prof. Koganurmath served the University from 07 January 2013 to 31 May 2018 and made invaluable contributions to the field of Library Science and to the academic community. His wisdom, dedication, and kindness touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.

The conference brought together academicians, researchers, and Gandhian scholars from across the country for meaningful deliberations on the enduring relevance of Gandhian philosophy in addressing contemporary global challenges.

Three-Day National Seminar on “Gandhi Beyond Boundaries: Relevance of Gandhian Thought in a Global World” inaugurated at the Central University of Gujarat, Vadodara.
The three-day national seminar is jointly organized by the Indian Society of Gandhian Studies (ISGS) and the Department of Gandhian Thought and Peace Studies, Central University of Gujarat. The conference has brought together academicians, research scholars, and Gandhian thinkers from across the country to deliberate on the contemporary relevance of Gandhian philosophy in a global context.
Chief Guest Bhagwati Mahesh Baldwa, Founder of Exorial Group of Industries, said that Mahatma Gandhi’s influence continues to inspire the world and that his autobiography played a significant role in bringing positive global change. She also emphasized that India’s Sanatan cultural tradition strengthened Gandhian thought and values.
Presiding over the inaugural session, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) Prof. Atanu Bhattacharya highlighted Gandhi’s journeys, his connection with places, and the significance of his philosophical vision. He also referred to the correspondence between Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi while discussing Gandhi’s ideas in the context of self, nation, and the world.
Keynote speaker Prof. Satish Rai elaborated on Gandhi’s principles of truth, non-violence, and love. Describing non-violence as a philosophy of positive thinking and a virtue of the brave, he emphasized its relevance in present times and its ability to influence not only society but also the human mind and soul.
Seminar Director Prof. Janak Singh Meena welcomed the guests and stated that the seminar is not merely an academic exercise, but also an opportunity to imbibe Gandhi’s contemporary ideas and values. He informed that a total of 16 academic sessions will be conducted during the three-day conference.
On the occasion, ISGS President Prof. Sudhira Jena shared details about the activities and objectives of the society, while General Secretary Prof. Sitaram Choudhary proposed the vote of thanks.
