Slightly Exceed FUNAAB CUT OFF MARK FOR ENGINEERING
But guess who brought her mum to ceremonial Building podium today.
You all saw me crying, unknown to many how I almost cancelled my induction.

Officially inducted as a Mechatronics Engineer today⚙️🎓
The journey from admission to induction:
• Admitted as the student with the highest UTME score in my entire matriculating set (343/400)
• Had 8 A1s in WASSCE
• Along the way 3x scholarships from Jim Ovia, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Ejiro M Ukiri Foundation
• Co-authored an IoT Research Publication with my lecturer
•As President of AMTES FUNAAB, organized the first-ever National Intervarsity Mechatronics competition convening 9 Nigerian universities in partnership with the Ogun State Ministry of Education and Coderina.
• Coordinated fellowships, mentorships, and community initiatives impacting hundreds of undergraduates across Africa with Intellect Africa.
• Started building in web3 as a creator and developer focusing on decentralized AI through Bittensor

It hasn’t just been about the grades alone. It’s also been about impact, developing myself extracurricularly, building skills and giving back in the little ways I can.
Grateful for the journey so far, excited for the next phase

Many of the skills listed in my PhD defense evaluation were what I acquired during my Erasmus Masters Program through the many weekly presentations.
Make sure you put in a strong Erasmus Mundus Scholar application this year to make a strong case for your own spot.
Good luck !

Because I 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 applied for 𝘋𝘰𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘢𝘦𝘶𝘴, a complementary European PhD certificate, my work was required to be perused by 4 different Professors from 4 different countries.
This needed to happen before I stand in public defense.
I eventually heard back.
🎓NEW ACADEMIC MILESTONE!🇪🇺
Grateful to God for this milestone — officially an Erasmus Mundus Scholar (NORISK 2026)! 🌍
My one-year journey takes me across France 🇫🇷 → Spain 🇪🇸 → Portugal 🇵🇹.
Arrived in France. The journey begins! 🚀

Shout out to my coauthors: Tobi(Super Mom), Olatokun(Amazing guy for real), Samuel( Na me and samuel dey battle data loader🤣🤣) and Toufiq( Mentorrr!!!!- 3 Gbosa🫡🫡🫡)
Maybe it was me who didn’t do enough in Germany 🇩🇪, or perhaps Photonics was simply a very deep engineering field, with unfamiliar hands-on laboratory topics I had to catch up with. 😭😂
Despite graduating with a First Class degree in Physics from Nigeria 🇳🇬, I didn’t top any of my theoretical courses in Germany, let alone my entire class.
However, I did exceptionally well in my research components:
🔬 Internship — 1.0
🔬 Research Lab (built my own custom dark-field microscope) — 1.0
🔬 Master’s Thesis (Optical Flow Cytometry) — 1.3
For context, 1.0 is the highest possible grade in the German system.
I’m not saying it’s impossible for a Nigerian to go abroad and emerge as the best student in a class full of brilliant international students. Of course, it happens!
But I couldn’t achieve that in my core theoretical courses.
My experience taught me that there are brilliant people everywhere. Being Nigerian doesn’t automatically make you more intelligent than everyone else, just as struggling academically abroad doesn’t mean you’re less intelligent.
Sometimes, you’re simply entering a new academic environment where everyone is equally brilliant, if not more so, and you have to work twice as hard to find your feet. 😂
Publication alert 🚨 🚨🚨
