Jokes about particular communities have the chance to increase our violence. This is why jokes about LGBTQ+ people, Black people, women, people with disabilities, etc. are NOT funny. Many of the people supporting these jokes will then pretend to care about our death. Save it.
@MattieChip That is rooted in misinformation from the 50s and 60s when women were told that formula was more healthy. I breastfed both of my kids to 13-14 months. They were fine. No growth issues.
@MattieChip I completely understand. I went through ALL of that with Levi. Folks outright hostile to breastfeeding— like grossed out— and asking when I would stop. Our kid — no allergies. Their kid — ALLLLLLL the allergies. C’mon!
@MattieChip I know you don’t need to hear this, but feel free to completely ignore them. When we know better we do better. Luckily, WE know better. ❤️♥️
I don’t know who needs to hear this but white investors need to stop investing in black people that make them comfortable and start investing in black people who challenge them. Your idea of good is harmful, and it’s stopping the community from being heard.
@RussLCon@nhannahjones This was hard to read. Mainly, because I feel convicted in the “my kid” rhetoric as the parent of a high achiever. But eye opening nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.
@MikkiBrock My therapist said we underestimate the impact of the pandemic on our ability to function, think, & do. The stress of COVID has pushed us to the mental brink but we keep moving w/out acknowledging what’s happening. & in SC there are no COVID protocols 🙄
@JLF_comms@SMRiveraVasquez@MoiraDonegan@annehelen It’s funny because Inhave that exact same feeling but for the opposite reason. I met my husband at 22 and married at 25. I’ve spent my entire adult life romantically partnered.
@LoriMBarrett@annehelen When I see younger women making the choice to make themselves 100% financially dependent on their spouse, I cringe. Generally, it’s a terrible idea and—frankly—dangerous.
