Thank you all for the kind, touching and cheering tweets about my Dad. Family, friends and colleagues are invited to a service at Heslington Church at 12 pm on Friday 16th. A reception at the Ron Cooke Hub Atrium at the University will follow at 1.30pm where all are welcome.
Sadly my Dad, Alan Maynard died this afternoon. He’d shown great courage and patience through a long illness. He died in York District Hospital where he worked for many years. We are all grateful for the great care he received from the NHS he loved and worked so hard to support.
France’s seam of sexism does need to be eradicated, but it won’t be done with a hashtag that whips up hysteria, writes Gavin Mortimer https://t.co/Wo9qr6bTP9
Under the new tax law, you can be a craft beverage producer without having to brew any beer, distill any spirits, or even put anything into a bottle https://t.co/BkAljEoCcG
Update. I hadn't realised the Attorney General gets a Cabinet minister's salary, so the average pay for the 19 men attending Cabinet is roughly £142,608; for the 9 women it is £129,315 https://t.co/KhpeKntiKI
The different systems of health/NHS and local authority social care are inefficient but how is Wonder Boy Hunt going to make it better? Time for mega evidence free redisorganisation?
No wonder this letter was leaked. And look at the hopeless response proposed on page 2: (1) ask businesses to lobby the Commission and (2) co-ordinate Govt depts. What did Mr. Davis think Brexit would involve - oh yes, he thought we'd be able to get a trade deal with Germany!!! https://t.co/lw4yC2YqUq
.@Jeremy_Hunt not only persuaded the PM to keep him at health, but he also persuaded her to give him full charge of social care for the elderly. Extraordinary. Makes one wonder who's in charge
To this day you find Trump voters who imagine that Obama was a lazy guy who spent all his time golfing, unlike hard-working Donald Trump https://t.co/EW38cMUWVq
Friends of Justine Greening tell me: “She should have absolutely expected to continue... she saw people who have been massively disloyal, others not competent, allowed to stay in Cabinet, and even given expanded briefs”
So 2 people she wanted to move stayed, 2 people she wanted to stay in Cabinet left, 2 people got appointed to the same job in ten minutes, & 2 people got extra words in their titles. Quite a reshuffle https://t.co/tiUi8zaztS
