Jordan 'furious' over Israel’s refusal to renew expanded water deal
——
Jordan is reportedly "furious" over Israel’s refusal to renew a 2021 water-sharing agreement between the two countries, Israel’s Public Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) reported on Monday.
Under the 1994 peace treaty between Israel and Jordan, Israel is required to provide its eastern neighbor with 50 million cubic meters of water annually. In 2021, under the government of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, Israel agreed to increase its freshwater supply to Jordan by an additional 50 million cubic meters, doubling the amount provided.
The expanded 2021 arrangement expired in late 2025 after several extensions, although Israel continues to deliver the original 50 million cubic meters mandated by the peace treaty. Reports said Israel tied the continuation of the additional supply to Jordan adopting a less critical tone toward Israel and restoring full diplomatic relations.
A Jordanian source close to the royal court told KAN: “The water issue is very important to us, and is part of the peace treaty.”

Belgium weighs recognition of Palestine after Hamas dissolves Gaza governing body
——
Belgium is preparing to consider formally recognizing Palestine after Hamas announced the dissolution of its governing body in Gaza.
Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said he had instructed his cabinet to prepare a decision on recognition, while noting it could be discussed soon.
The move follows a position outlined last year by Prime Minister Bart De Wever that recognition would depend on certain conditions, as the ruling CD&V party argued that the dissolution removes a key obstacle to Belgium's recognition of a Palestinian state.
