@JumboElliott76@davidfrum Uh…I think the point being made is this - if a professional law enforcement officer with years of experience was ineffectual, what would we expect a teacher who’s had a 6 week course on how to handle a firearm safely to effectively handle the situation?
CDC is urging adults 50 & up to get a 2nd booster. Concern is growing among health experts about new coronavirus infections. Previously, the agency said those 50 & up had the option of a 2nd booster. Now shots are urged. New cases are averaging ~100k a day https://t.co/cyo7GUi409
I told a cop to put on a mask cause the patient had covid and he goes “damn it feels like everyone I meet here is covid positive” like…my dude, you’re in the emergency room ???
This weekend, my 4 y/o daughter tested positive for COVID-19. She’s had a fever and sore throat, and she isn’t her usual bubbly self. But thankfully she is eating, drinking, and breathing fine. We’re keeping a close eye on her. Worrying about her has prompted a few reflections:
Study I would like to see: Have 10 rich kids write college admissions essays about growing up in poverty and despair and have 10 kids who actually did grow up in poverty and despair do the same and ask admissions officers to say which are more compelling (I fear the former).
Get vaccinated OR boosted every Friday in January at Heritage Community Clinic in Grosvenor West on the Athens campus.
Athens campus students: You also have the option to walk in or schedule a vax or boost at Campus Care M-F.

Omicron is spreading at a rate we have not seen with any previous variant. I need to be very clear: vaccines alone will not get any country out of this crisis.
It’s not vaccines instead of masks, distancing, ventilation or hand hygiene.
Do it all. Do it consistently. Do it well.
