Buckle up, guys, because this is a long one. Some people out there think I hijacked the #HEX community. I get it, and you'll have to take my word on this since we're not mind readers here.
So, here's the deal: Before I discovered HEX, I had a Telegram channel with a few hundred people. We'd shoot the breeze about stuff like real estate, crypto, politics - you name it. I'd had some wins flipping properties and trading crypto, and I just wanted to share the love and help others do the same. Many of the people in the Rags To Riches Telegram are family, friends, or folks who've been with me from the start. Never charged anyone a dime; I just wanted to help those who were willing to help themselves.
We'd chat about things like dollar-cost averaging and not getting sucked into expensive courses sold by influencers. We also touched on hedging risk by diversifying into BTC and other assets.
Creating a YouTube channel? Well, that was out of necessity - answering the same questions for my group over and over was exhausting, especially with a demanding sales job. So I decided, "Hey, why not just share links for those questions?"
I stumbled across this guy Richard on Twitter in late 2019. I remember a video he posted on twitter (or someone clipped it), "this is your last chance to get in before xyz..." Can't quite remember what event he was referring to, but he was entertaining, I'll give him that. But, he gave off some scammer vibes, which put me on the fence.
My interest in him and HEX didn't really kick in until HEX started taking off. I started doing my homework, looking at what HEX was really all about. I also started consuming more of Richard's content. What struck me was that a lot of the stuff I was already teaching, he was teaching too. Only he was doing it better, with more experience, and let's face it, he's a smart dude.
I quietly bought some HEX in late 2020 or early 2021 without telling my group. I didn't want to vouch for it and potentially get them burned. But by early 2021, I made a video about HEX for my group and onboarded everyone because it was just a no-brainer. I was totally into the design, and I loved the Richard's genius.
What I didn't see coming, though, was the HEX community. After a video or two, I was swamped with HEXicans. I guess the YouTube algorithm connected the dots and brought them to my content.
The support was insane. In retrospect, I realize HEXicans didn't have a lot of allies back then. HEX was considered a scam, and the community had been under fire for years. So, anyone who spoke truthfully about HEX was hailed as a hero.
In 2021, I was crash-course learning DEFI. I didn't have half the knowledge the average Hexican had. I was constantly chatting with smart people and started making more videos about HEX, DEFI, and politics because I've always been a politics junkie. I care about finding the truth, and politicians lying through their teeth are a never-ending content source.
My message resonated with some Hexicans, who, like me, were here not just to make money, but also to push back against the rising tide of socialism and Marxism. I saw social media as a way to share my message about freedom and sovereignty with a larger audience, while also helping people understand the transformative power of crypto.
CryptoHeartbeat and I began making content about #HEX around the same time. We were both psyched about #Pulsechain because it hadn't launched yet. He asked to interview me live on stream, and I was like, "Only if you'll shotgun a beer with me on stream."
Matt approached me one day after we'd known each other for around six months, asking if I'd be interested in a project promoting freedom and sovereignty initiatives on Pulsechain. The moment he spilled the beans, I was in. It was a perfect fit for what I was about. I was chomping at the bit to share it with the community, but I had to keep a lid on it for a while.
What I wasn't aware of was HEX's troubled past with shady characters. I wasn't around when people tried to screw over the community. If you ask me to name projects that targeted Hexicans before I came along, I might be able to remember one. But when I heard Richard say, "I can't wait to see what cool things Hexicans will build," I was thrilled about being a significant part of #Pulsechain, promoting it, and onboarding newcomers.
Matt and I thought about reaching out to existing communities of no-coiners, like nonprofits, and introducing them to the wonders of blockchain and Pulsechain.
When we finally unveiled our project, some in the community assumed we were up to no good. Old wounds resurfaced, and some key community members openly and privately snubbed us - and some still do. I've seen the nasty comments in Telegram chats, I've seen the texts. I see the people who badmouth us in private but praise us in public. They spread false information about our project and its intentions, claiming we were here to steal from the community. It took me by surprise, but I get why it happened.
So, here's what I want you to take away from this:
I avoid tagging HEX in my posts because I don't want to seem like I'm trying to ride its coattails for fame. Same goes for tagging Richard.
I'm still a fan of the asset. I still hold it, and I'll still defend it because truth is worth standing up for. I'm super excited about what the future holds for #Pulsechain and the people building on it.
One of the beauties of crypto is that it's permissionless. No one can stop you from participating. Some of you might not like that. Some of you want to play judge, jury, and executioner, controlling everyone who doesn't agree with you. But you won't control me or the path I'm on. I hope that's clear.
I always strive to be honest and open. I avoid bending the truth because I believe in real-life consequences.
In a nutshell, Hexicans absolutely built me, and I'm giving back by doing my bit with Pulsechain. Is there potential financial upside? Sure. But that's not why I'm doing it. There are thousands of hours of my YouTube videos that back up that claim.
So, folks, stick to your plans. Don't let the fearmongers on Twitter throw you off your game. I am always here to help anyone. Cheers.
