David’s personality, intellect, skills made him brilliant in his vocation as a journalist. He never really retired. Sceptical Scot, run with estimable @fay_young became an important platform. https://t.co/AFmIDFmL0q

This is a corker of a report, to be discussed at a major Conference at Glasgow University tomorrow. Read it, for sure but, more important, press goverments to do it.
Today our Scottish Future has launched a major new report titled ‘innovation Nation: Good Jobs for Scotland’s Future’ which analyses Scotland’s successes in life sciences, manufacturing and energy and sets out a plan for economic prosperity 🔽

Here's an interesting opportunity if you have the right HR expertise. I sit on the Board of the Pension Protection Fund, a public body sometimes called the ‘pensions lifeboat’. We’re co-opting a member to our Remuneration Committee. More information at https://t.co/MFvHfiXHDP.
Meet your new Scotland Office team.

Now we get to work.
The importance of Knowlege, from a man who Knows.
Why have a our schools fallen so far behind others? Because if they are to learn, children have to be taught stuff. They need Knowledge, not just skills.
Shifting to a more knowledge-based curriculum is the only way Scottish schools can recover from the decline in standards

What sad news. Stuart and I were pals before he joined the ministry, and it was great to find him again as Chaplain at @UofGlasgow. A man with his feet on the ground but his eye on heaven. RIP.
So sad to learn of the death of Stuart McQuarrie. We first met during his @UofGlasgow Chaplain days when I was on the board of @GUUnion and we recently sat on the @SAMHtweets board of trustees together until last year. A funny, passionate and caring man. He will be missed.

Say one thing one week, do the opposite the next. No Verity in this House.
“Fully funded” means adding between £150-250m to govt grants to councils. Where from?
A freeze can only be enforced by severe cuts to the grants of any council that dares plan to put tax up. Will he do so?
Legal but totally contrary to Verity House Agreement and good governance. Essentially saying to lg, freeze council tax and we’ll partially make up difference in grant (which Scot Govt has been cutting grant for years now).
