It’s probably not quite like this, but the Volpato thing reminds me of how Allan Border managed Shane Warne “below the radar” in warmups before he bowled that first Ashes ball that caught Gatting by complete surprise.

@Elfvandel20 The direct spot was certainly in place when Australia beat England in early 2003. I was there and recall a BBC reporter the day before, ask then assistant coach Arnold what is was like to get a “bye” to the World Cup
My first visit to my Iraqi barber since their World Cup qualification and there was much excitement!
