When I told my Dad I was gay in 1995 he said something that will always stay with me. He told me about his best friend in the army that was in the closet and had children and was from a deeply religious family where the โGay was prayed away.โ My father started crying (he has only ever cried twice in my presence) and said that he found his friend hanging from the rafters in the barracks. Suicide at aged 29, three kids, an oblivious wife. He said โAs long as you are safe, happy and loved that is all I want for you son. I would prefer an alive gay son to one that kills himself because he is gay.โ #PrideMonth2026

It is not everything that the church or mosque is against that we need to legislate into law.

โMy brother, if your son walks up to you and tells you he or she is gay, what will you do? Are you going to stop loving him? Are you going to now yank him up and say go to the police station?โ he asked.

The Ghanaian LGBTQ community has one simple demand: leave us alone. We are not recruiting, not teaching and not converting anyone. We are simply existing. We are born this way. We live and love this way. We deserve our human rights. #newsfile
Doechii said says she recently went through all of Jay-Z's discography and was dumbfounded by the kind of brilliant rapper he is:
"I'm from the south and I didn't grow up on a lot of Jay-Z but I recently went through all of his discography and I'm like oh my God, everybody knows he's crazy but damn."
Years ago, I traveled from Takoradi to Accra and spent the night outside the Chinese Embassy just to be among the first in line for a visa application.
I remember the exhaustion, the uncertainty, and the hope that all the sacrifice would be worth it. At the time, I was just another person chasing an opportunity, standing in a queue before sunrise, believing that persistence could open doors.
Today, I received an email saying the new Chinese Ambassador wants to meet me.
My first reaction was simple: ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝWhy me?โ
Life has a remarkable way of bringing moments full circle. The same place where I once waited outside, wondering whether I would even be noticed, is now inviting me inside.
This moment is bigger than me. Itโs a reminder that no sincere effort is ever wasted, no journey is too small, and no dream is insignificant. Sometimes the places where we struggle the most become the places where we later discover how far weโve come.
To everyone working quietly toward their goals: keep going. The long nights, the sacrifices, and the waiting may one day become part of a story you never imagined telling.
